Tourism and rest

Salam alaikum, brothers! Anji is what unites us now. No one from the club speaks and, apparently, does not know about the future fate of the team. Since Kerimov never gives interviews, I decided to write him an open letter myself. Dear Suleiman Abusaidovich! Due to the lack of any information, I turn to you directly. FC Anji, as a commercial project, is fully owned only by you, as a shareholder and owner. But as a spectacle and a game, you created it for us mere mortals. Football is not an expensive picture that you can lock up at home and hang on the wall. We do not know about the reasons that guided you when deciding to reformat. It's none of our business. And if you yourself did not say about them, it means that we DO NOT need to know this. This is your personal decision and we respect you for everything you have done for Anji.

But fans and fans of Anji are the soul of the club, without which the team will simply die. And we don't care further fate Anji, about which Mr. Remchukov promised on August 7 to tell everything in detail. Two weeks have passed and there is no news. There is a feeling that the club does not respect its fans, who only have to guess what is happening. What is happening today with Anji in the world is perceived as part of some kind of "show business". For our enemies, this is another reason for open gloating. All sorts of pseudo-analysts and football experts directly write that Anji is a soap bubble, and that "no money, no Anji". And we do not agree with this, because for us, the fans, this is an inseparable and considerable part of our life. Anji contributed bright colors in Russian football, the joy of communicating with the great wizards of the ball. But now, instead, until late at night, with bated breath, we are forced to peer at the lines of sports messages and vigorously discuss among ourselves the news about “what else happened to Anji, or who was sold today?” Therefore, many supporters of the club are now very disappointed, some even have aggression. A critical mass of messages is increasingly spilling onto the Internet.

But we live in love for football, not hatred. Therefore, rethinking what has been happening for all these days, I think I will express a common opinion by saying that: - we support the club's policy aimed at ensuring that instead of constant expensive purchases of "stars" and achieving momentary victories or commercial success in the Russian championship, LU and CL to spend money and efforts on creating a serious base for training local personnel; - we understand that the "heart" of the new Anji team should be our own pupils, as people who are most devoted to the traditions of their club, who, like a man, and not for money, must fight for its history and fight for the great name of Anji ; - we are proud that Gadzhiev is coaching the team at this critical time and that Gadzhibekov, Serderov, Abdulavov, Tagirbekov are now playing for it ... They should become living symbols and legends of the team in the future; - we call on players, coaches, club management, and all fans not to panic, join the fight to save Anji, lend a helping hand to each other, and get out of this situation with dignity and honor. It is for the sake of football and for the support of Anji that we must gather in the stands of the stadium on August 24 and give our all to our beloved team.

Suleiman Kerimov - Russian entrepreneur, co-owner of a series large companies, shareholder of Uralkali, member of the Federation Council from Dagestan.

January 30, 2018 Suleiman Kerimov as Russian oligarch, with a fortune of more than a billion dollars, was included in the so-called "Kremlin list" compiled by the US Treasury at the request of a new law to counter the opponents of this country .

Political activity

In December 1999, Suleiman Kerimov became a deputy of the State Duma of Russia of the third convocation on the federal list of the Zhirinovsky Bloc electoral bloc, joining the security committee.

On December 7, 2003, Suleiman Kerimov was elected to the State Duma of the fourth convocation on the federal list of the LDPR electoral association. In the State Duma, he joined the LDPR faction and took the post of deputy chairman of the committee on physical education and sports, and was also included in the safety committee.

In April 2007, Suleiman Kerimov left the LDPR faction and became an independent deputy, and a week later applied to join the United Russia faction. On May 11, 2007, Kerimov became a member of the United Russia faction.

In December 2007, at the suggestion of the speaker of the Dagestan parliament, Magomed Suleymanov, Kerimov was unanimously elected as a representative of the People's Assembly of Dagestan in the Federation Council. In February 2008, the upper house of the Russian parliament confirmed his authority.

Business

In October 1998, for $50 million, Suleiman Kerimov purchased from the management of the investment company OAO Nafta-Moskva, the heiress of Soyuznefteexport, an oil trading monopoly that exported 200 million tons of oil and oil products annually during the Soviet era, - 55% of its shares. The company was going through hard times - after the August crisis of 1998, the money of Nafta-Moskva "hung" in several collapsed banks, debts amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars, and the management, headed by the former deputy minister of the oil and gas industry Anatoly Kolotilin, had to put Nafta-Moskva up for sale . For a year (according to other sources - one and a half) Kerimov increased his stake in the company's shares to 100%.

In June 2000, Nafta-Moskva bought Varyoganneftegaz, a subsidiary of SIDANCO, in respect of which bankruptcy proceedings were initiated.

At the end of 2003 and 2004, Nafta began buying up land in the Moscow region for Novorizhskoe highway. On these lands it was planned to build 2.7 million square meters of luxury housing and entertainment complexes. The cost of the project was estimated at $3 billion. The project was named: the private city "Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye". By 2006, he already occupied 430 hectares of land.

In July 2005, Kerimov, together with Deripaska and Abramovich, acquired a stake in the state oil company Rosneft (the company that bought Yuganskneftegaz, the former subsidiary of Yukos Oil Company, at the end of 2004).

In 2005, Nafta-Moskva became one of the sponsors of the Russian Football Union and the general sponsor of the Russian national freestyle wrestling team. In November 2005 President International Federation United Styles of Wrestling (FILA) Rafael Martinetti presented Suleiman Kerimov with one of the most prestigious awards - the "Golden Order".

At the end of 2005, Nafta bought Polymetal for $900 million, Russia's leading silver producer and second largest gold producer.

On May 24, 2006, Suleiman Kerimov was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Wrestling Federation. According to the president of the federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, the decision to establish the Board of Trustees and appoint its head was made because long-term interaction with state sports authorities and large national business structures has become crucial for the effective implementation of the tasks facing the federation.

In February 2006, Kerimov decided to turn Nafta-Moskva into a full-fledged investment company, turning it into a leading private equity fund.

On November 21, 2006, the Nafta-Moscow company and the Moscow government announced the creation of OAO United Hotel Company (OGK), to which the shares of more than 20 hotels on the balance of the city (including Balchug, Metropol) were to be transferred , "National" and "Radisson-Slavyanskaya"). The authorized capital of the new company was to be at least $2 billion: 49% was to belong to the city, 51% to Nafta-Moskva. However, at the end of January 2007, the Moscow government announced its intention to terminate the joint hotel business with Nafta-Moscow. According to officials, the reason for terminating the contract with Kerimov was an accurate assessment of stakes in municipal hotels, which found that the total value of the assets of all Moscow hotels (which were to be included in the WGC) amounted to almost $7 billion.

In the fall of 2007, Suleiman Kerimov suddenly began to sell off his Russian assets: the first to be sold was Metronom AG (the operator of the Mercado supermarket chain). In April 2008, it became known that Kerimov had agreed to sell National Telecommunications to the National Media Group. From January to May 2008, with the mediation of foreign banks Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse, S. Kerimov sold large stakes in Sberbank and Gazprom % of Gazprom shares).

According to experts, the fortune of Suleiman Kerimov in 2007 was $14.4 billion. According to Forbes magazine, Kerimov was ranked 35th in the list of the richest people in the world.

In the second half of May 2008, Polymetal officially announced that Suleiman Kerimov was negotiating the sale of his stake in the company. In addition, Kerimov planned to sell the elite village Rublevo-Arkhangelskoye, which was under construction, as well. The businessman invested the released funds in foreign financial institutions - as of June 2008, he had already acquired about 3% of the shares of Deutsche Bank, as well as the papers of Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, UBS.

However, since February 2009, publications have appeared in the media about Kerimov's acquisitions in Russia. It was reported that his Nafta-Moskva became the owner of 75% of Glavstroy SPb (the construction division of Deripaska's Basel). In the same month, it became known that the Moscow government offered Nafta-Moskva a controlling stake in Dekmos OJSC, which was engaged in the construction of the Moskva Hotel.

In March 2009, Kommersant announced that the owner of the Interros holding, Vladimir Potanin, was selling 22% of the shares of Polyus Gold to Kerimov's structures. In June, the leadership of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that the purchase of a stake in Polyus Gold by Kerimov's company had been approved by the government commission on foreign investment. In July 2009, when Polyus Gold disclosed its ownership structure, it became known that Kerimov was the beneficiary of a 36.88% stake in the company: it was reported that he controlled this package through Wandle Holdings Limited.

In April 2009, one of the country's largest developers, the PIK group of companies, officially admitted that Nafta-Moskva had received 25% of its shares and filed a petition with the Federal Antimonopoly Service to purchase another 20% of PIK. And in August 2009, it became known that in 2008 the Nafta Co. group of companies became the owner of almost 100% of CJSC Trading House TsVUM (Voentorg).

Shareholder of Uralkali

In June 2010, Kerimov became the owner of a 25 percent stake in Uralkali, the world's sixth largest potash fertilizer producer, whose main shareholder was Dmitry Rybolovlev. According to experts, he paid $2.5 billion for the company's blocking stake.

September 2, 2013 Investigative Committee of Belarus put Suleiman Kerimov on the wanted list. Karimov's actions are qualified by the investigation as an organization of abuse of power and official powers (clause 4 of article 16 and part 3 of article 424 of the Criminal Code). According to the Investigative Committee of Belarus, a number of leaders of the Belarusian Potash Company (a joint venture between Uralkali and Belaruskali) implemented a scheme that caused damage to the interests of Belarus in the amount of $100 million. Investigators suggest that some time before Uralkali broke off cooperation with "Belaruskali", managers of the Belarusian Potash Company, secretly from the Belarusian side, provided buyers with discounts and tore up lucrative contracts in order to re-sign them with Uralkali later.

On September 3, the Russian Bureau of Interpol received from the Central Office of the organization information about the announcement of the Senator from Dagestan Suleiman Kerimov on the international wanted list.

Owner of Anji

In January 2011, at a meeting between Kerimov and the President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov was taken transfer decision under the control of the senator of the Dagestan football club Anji (Makhachkala), which made it possible for the club to acquire such well-known players as Yuri Zhirkov (Chelsea London), Roberto Carlos (Corinthians Sao Paulo), Balazs Dzhudzhak, Eindhoven (PSV "Netherlands), Odil Akhmedov ("Pakhtakor" Uzbekistan), Mubarak Boussufa ("Anderlecht" Belgium) and the main acquisition - the purchase in August 2011 from the Milan "Internationale" Cameroonian super-forward Samuel Eto'o. In December 2016, Kerimov handed over FC Anji to a new owner, Osman Kadiev.

VTB shareholder

In February 2011, Kerimov purchased about 1.5 percent of the state bank VTB for $500 million, becoming its largest private shareholder.

In March 2011, Kerimov took part in the elections to the People's Assembly of Dagestan as part of the list " United Russia March 31, 2011 new composition The Dagestan parliament reapproved Kerimov as a senator.

lawsuits

On April 14, 2015, it was reported that the Nicosia District Court froze some of the assets of Suleiman Kerimov at the suit of businessman Ashot Yeghiazaryan, seeking compensation for the costs of building a hotel in the center of Moscow. According to the decision of the London International Court of Arbitration (01/13/2015), Kerimov was ordered to pay Yeghiazaryan $ 250 million, but the first tranche was not paid in November 2014. The exact list of frozen assets is not known. One of the newspaper's sources claimed, citing a court decision, that the list included, among other things, Polyus Gold shares, as well as the Cinema Park chain of cinemas (formally its owner is the businessman's son Said Kerimov) and FC Anji.

Kerimov was taken to the specialized hospital De la Timone in Marseille with severe burns. According to eyewitnesses of the accident, he managed to get out of the car himself and tried to knock the flames out of his clothes. Kandelaki suffered less - she was taken to the Saint-Roch hospital and was discharged the same day.

On January 24, 2007, after a long treatment at the Queen Astrid military hospital in Brussels, Kerimov returned to Moscow and began to work.

Arrest in France

In November 2017, Suleiman Kerimov was detained by French police in Nice in a tax evasion case. According to the police, Karimov committed these actions through real estate fraud. The judge decided to open an investigation against Suleiman Kerimov, as well as a bail of 5 million euros, on which the senator was released. At the same time, the court decided that Kerimov must hand over his passport, cannot leave the Alpes-Maritimes department, and must also regularly report to the police.

Under French law, tax evasion and money laundering can lead to imprisonment for up to ten years, but, as practice shows, the case may not go to trial if the defendant compensates for the damage caused to him.

On November 28, 2017, Nice prosecutor Jean-Michel Pratre stated that an appeal had been filed against Kerimov's release on bail, as the prosecutor's office considered it necessary that Russian businessman was in pre-trial detention.

+2 Analytics / "Walkers" write a letter to the oligarch

Appeals of Dagestanis to Suleiman Kerimov have become a kind of national hobby

For some time now, a major Russian businessman, Suleiman Kerimov, has been perceived in Dagestan as a person for whom nothing is impossible. This is precisely what explains the snowballing number of appeals of Dagestanis to the oligarch.

However, it is impossible not to notice another. The image of an oligarch is often used by the Dagestan bureaucracy as a talisman. Thus, a number of officials, and in particular the head of the Dokuzparinsky district, Kerimkhan Abasov, place his photograph in the Dagestan press like an icon. Information is actively spreading that, they say, Kerimov is a relative of Abasov and his protégé. Perhaps there is some kind of family connection, but it is quite distant, as they say, “jelly”.

Conversation on a favorite topic

At the same time, there is no doubt that Kerimov is well aware of the potential of Dagestan and, in particular, Lezgi politicians. As an investor-strategist, he knows who is worth what and what you can count on, supporting this or that figure. Let's say the heads of administrations southern regions the republics and their teams are mostly people from the Soviet past, “red directors”, and therefore are the least suitable for the role effective managers. Of course, among them there are people from business, for example, the leaders of the Kurakh and Magaramkent districts, but they have not yet become politically prominent figures and have not gained the experience of statesmen.

The name of Kerimov is also actively mentioned in the middle and lower levels of managers and businessmen of South Dagestan, moreover, in a very different context. “Kerimov supports him”, “He is Kerimov’s man”, “Kerimov bought it” (or simply “Sulik”) is a favorite topic of conversation among residents of cities and villages not only in South Dagestan, but throughout the republic. One funny case is known when, during the examination of a woman suspected of smuggling drugs through customs, she fervently argued that she was Kerimov's second cousin. Believe it or not - history is silent about this.

Nevertheless, in general, the Lezgi people perceive the figure of their famous and wealthy countryman very soberly, without euphoria. It is time to talk about such a phenomenon as "a letter to Suleiman Kerimov." Written appeals and e-mails are written to him in abundance. Their tone, as a rule, is of a pleading-intercessory character. The topics are mainly related to assistance in the implementation of commercial projects, buying a home or health problems. Compiling letters to Kerimov has become, to some extent, national fun under the code name: “Did you write to Kerimov?”

No one can say how many “Lezgin” letters are in the general flow of appeals to a businessman. But I can assume that there are much fewer of them than letters from representatives of other nationalities of Dagestan. Lezgins, as a rule, are looking for other approaches to their influential countryman. In addition, they evaluate his person soberly and have no illusions about the possibility of getting an answer from Moscow.

As for the Azerbaijani Lezgins, representatives of active Baku youth claim that the level of perception of Karimov’s figure here is practically zero, and many learned about his existence several years ago from the news, “when he had an accident with Tina Kandelaki in a car.” Thus, in the youth get-together, the name of Kerimov is practically not a topic for discussion, as can be seen from the example of Dagestan and Dagestan Lezgins.

When Anji is not happy

The fact that Kerimov is a Lezgin by origin is of interest in Dagestan or in Russia to a narrow circle of people. Another thing is his involvement in the Russian Caucasus. Most of Kerimov's partners, his colleagues and friends are representatives of different Caucasian peoples, and if Dagestanis, then other nationalities. In particular, Akhmed Bilalov, who was his representative in several important transactions, and Magomed Gadzhiev, his right hand and an old friend, both Avars.

It is the “Avar environment” of Lezgin Kerimov that convinces many of his fellow countrymen of his indifference to purely Lezgi projects. Only a small part of the Dagestan Lezgins associates with the name of Kerimov the possibility of positive changes in South Dagestan, especially in the economic sphere. They say that even letters from Yuzhdag are filtered by Kerimov's people, who, not being Lezgins, are absolutely not receptive to the Lezgin question. Meanwhile, the money of the oligarch would help the revival of Southern Dagestan. Therefore, there is no particular admiration among the Lezgin intelligentsia regarding the purchase of football stars for the Anji team, which is owned by Kerimov.

And plus to that - and a philanthropist

At the same time, Suleiman Kerimov is rightfully one of the patrons who generously finance religious and social projects. Thus, the annual action "Hajj of Suleiman Kerimov" is known, financing of mosques in Yuzhdag, in particular in the ancestral village of ancestors - Kara-kure and the village of Yarag, financial assistance to sick children within the framework of the "Give Life" campaign, curated by FC Anji. And quite recently, a presentation of the Association of Businessmen of Southern Dagestan took place in Moscow; attempts are being made to create then the agglomeration of the same name. These projects are actively supervised by Krasnoyarsk businessmen - the Abasov brothers, however, experts believe that the figure of businessman Kerimov stands behind them and that without his moral support, such projects in the "Lezgin region" would simply be impossible.

The company was going through hard times - after the August crisis of 1998, Nafta-Moskva's money "hung" in several collapsed banks, debts amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars, and management, headed by the former Deputy Minister of the Oil and Gas Industry Anatoly Kolotilin, had to put Nafta-Moskva up for sale . For a year (according to other sources - one and a half), Kerimov increased his stake in the company's shares to 100%.

In June 2000, Nafta-Moskva bought the company Varyoganneftegaz, a subsidiary of SIDANCO, in respect of which bankruptcy proceedings were initiated.

At the end of 2003 and 2004, Nafta began buying up land in the Moscow region on Novorizhskoye highway. It was planned to build 2.7 million square meters of luxury housing and entertainment complexes on these lands. The cost of the project was estimated at $3 billion. The project was named: the private city of Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye. By 2006, he already occupied 430 hectares of land.

In July 2005, Kerimov, together with Deripaska and Abramovich, acquired a stake in the state oil company Rosneft (the company that bought the former Yukos subsidiary, Yuganskneftegaz, at the end of 2004).

In 2005, Nafta-Moskva became one of the sponsors of the Russian Football Union and the general sponsor of the Russian national freestyle wrestling team. In November 2005, the President of the International Federation of United Styles of Wrestling (FILA), Rafael Martinetti, presented Suleiman Kerimov with one of the most prestigious awards - the Golden Order.

On November 21, 2006, the Nafta-Moskva company and the Moscow government announced the creation of OAO United Hotel Company (OGK), to which the shares of more than 20 hotels on the balance of the city (including Balchug, Metropol) were to be transferred , "National" and "Radisson-Slavyanskaya").

From January to May 2008, through the mediation of foreign banks Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse, S. Kerimov sold large stakes in Sberbank and Gazprom (according to unofficial information, Nafta-Moskva owned 6% of Sberbank shares and % of Gazprom shares) 3 .

In addition, Kerimov planned to sell the elite village Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye, which was under construction, as well.

In March 2009, Kommersant announced that Vladimir Potanin, the owner of the Interros holding, was selling 22% of the shares of Polyus Gold to Kerimov's structures.

According to experts, he paid $2.5 billion for the company's blocking stake 4 .

On September 2, 2013, the Investigative Committee of Belarus put Suleiman Kerimov on the wanted list. Investigators suggest that some time before Uralkali broke off cooperation with By Belaruskali, the managers of the Belarusian Potash Company, secretly from the Belarusian side, provided buyers with discounts and broke off lucrative contracts in order to re-sign them with Uralkali later.

On September 3, the Russian Bureau of Interpol received from the Central Office of the organization information about the announcement in international wanted list Senator from Dagestan Suleiman Kerimov.

Owner of Anji

In January 2011, at a meeting between Karimov and Dagestan President Magomedsalam Magomedov, it was decided to transfer the Dagestan football club Anji (Makhachkala) under the control of the senator, which made it possible for the club to acquire such well-known players as Yuri Zhirkov (Chelsea London), Roberto Carlos (Corinthians Sao Paulo), Balazs Dzhudzhak, Eindhoven (PSV Netherlands), Odil Akhmedov (Pakhtakor Uzbekistan), Mubarak Boussufa (Anderlecht Belgium) and the main acquisition - the purchase in August 2011 from Milan " Internationale" by Cameroonian super-forward Samuel Eto'o. In December 2016, Kerimov handed over FC Anji to the new owner Osman Kadiev 5 .

VTB shareholder

In February 2011, Kerimov purchased about 1.5 percent of the state bank VTB for $500 million, becoming its largest private shareholder.

In March 2011, Kerimov took part in the elections to the People's Assembly of Dagestan as part of the United Russia list. On March 31, 2011, the new composition of the Dagestan parliament reapproved Kerimov as a senator.

In 2013, Suleiman Kerimov ranked 20th in the ranking of the 200 richest businessmen in Russia according to Forbes. His fortune is estimated at 7.1 billion dollars 6 . Kerimov owns large stakes in a number of Russian enterprises - Uralkali (18.1%), VTB (6%), Polyus Gold (40.2%), PIK (47%).

One of the newspaper's sources claimed, citing a court decision, that the list included, among other things, Polyus Gold shares, as well as the Cinema Park chain of cinemas (formally owned by the businessman's son Said Kerimov) and FC Anji 7 .

Accident in France

November 25, 2006 Suleiman Kerimov got into a car accident in France, in Nice. The car Ferrari Enzo (worth 675 thousand euros), in which Suleiman Kerimov, along with the TV presenter of the STS channel Tina Kandelaki, was driving along the embankment, crashed into a tree and caught fire 8 .

In November 2017, Suleiman Kerimov was detained by the French police in Nice in a tax evasion case 9 . According to the police, Karimov committed these actions through real estate fraud. The judge decided to open an investigation against Suleiman Kerimov, as well as a bail of 5 million euros, on which the senator was released. At the same time, the court decided that Kerimov must surrender his passport, cannot leave the Alpes-Maritimes department, and must also regularly report to the police 10 .

Under French law, tax evasion and money laundering can lead to imprisonment for up to ten years, but, as practice shows, the case may not go to trial if the defendant compensates for the damage caused to him 11 .

On November 28, 2017, Nice prosecutor Jean-Michel Pratre stated that an appeal had been filed against Kerimov's release on bail, as the prosecutor's office considers it necessary for the Russian businessman to be in pre-trial detention 12 .

On December 4, 2017, the prosecutor of Nice, Jean-Michel Pratre, accused Kerimov of importing from 500 million to 750 million euros into France for the purpose of money laundering 13 .

Charity

In October 2009, Suleiman Kerimov financed a trip to Moscow for the Yakubov family from the Kizlyar district of Dagestan, on the body of their nine-month-old son, Ali, lines from the Koran appear in an unknown way.

Kerimov is a regular frequenter of Moscow bohemian clubs. He enjoys throwing lavish social events, parties with pop stars, sailing on his own Ice yacht off the coast of Spain (built at the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen, Germany; this four-deck vessel is 90 meters long). Suleiman Kerimov’s personal aircraft is the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 737-700, a luxuriously finished medium-haul passenger airliner with a non-stop flight range of up to 12,000 km (in a standard commercial layout, the Boeing 737 carries more than 100 passengers, but in the BBJ modification it takes only 16 people on board , and on board there is an office, shower room and bedroom).

Marital status: Firuza's wife is the daughter of a high-ranking Dagestan official. There are three children in the family - a son and two daughters.

Hajj according to Kerimov's program

Suleiman Kerimov does charity work, donates large sums to social events, in particular to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In April 2007, Kerimov donated $100 million for the construction of the Cathedral Mosque in Moscow, and in May of the same year allocated funds to send 5,000 Russians on the Hajj.

Every year, the number of pilgrims going on a hajj to Mecca from Dagestan through the charitable line of Senator Suleiman Kerimov is from 2.5 to 3 thousand people. Their exact number depends on the total hajj quotas allocated to the republic. The charity project is carried out by the Marva-Tour company.

In 1984, at the end of the first year of the institute, Suleiman Kerimov was drafted into the army and did military service in the Strategic Missile Forces of the USSR Armed Forces (RVSN USSR Armed Forces), where he was the head of the calculation with the rank of senior sergeant. During military service, Kerimov was the champion of the kettlebell lifting division.

After being transferred to the reserve in 1986, Kerimov continued his studies at the Faculty of Economics of the Dagestan State University (DSU) named after. IN AND. open letter to Suleiman Kerimov

The reserve officer of the Strategic Missile Forces is writing to you Russian Federation. After completing my service in the army, trying to continue my activities further, at first I got a job in
local district administration. After several years of work, he was fired - did not suit
new guidance age limit. Further attempts to settle somewhere subsequently were also hindered by the same qualification. A few years ago, following an ad, I got into courses teaching the activities of a trader in the FOREX market. I finished them and opened an account with my savings in an attempt to find myself in this type of activity. I didn’t achieve success, and it’s not surprising, because in the literature that I then acquired, professional traders, sharing their experience, write,
that have achieved their success through many years of practice and deep study of theory. Through my practice and after analyzing a lot of opinions of professionals, I came to the conclusion that with the amounts that I owned at that time on FOREX there was nothing to even try. Somewhat later, I entered and completed courses for traders on working at the stock section of the MICEX. Much was already familiar to me (technical and fundamental analysis, risk management, etc.). I supplemented my knowledge of working with shares, I understood the features and that the financial measurements for working on the MICEX stock market are not as draconian as on FOREX. Again, the acquisition of literature, a suitable computer, and as a result, all my financial resources were enough to open a small account in one of the investment companies in our city. I have achieved some results, but I cannot balance the necessary expenses (Internet, purchase of software products) with income. You probably have an idea about the size of the pension. In this activity I found myself, education allows, the qualification does not matter. There are no problems with working on a computer and with software products (at one time I graduated from a technical civil university).
When he served in the army, according to the charter, he did not have the right to engage in third-party activities, and such a market did not exist in our country, and after his dismissal he was thrown out of life ....
In the New Testament, Jesus says: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (From Matthew, 7:7) I appeal to you with a request for financial assistance. Perhaps you have funds intended for charitable purposes. And I turn to you for help. There are many examples in the literature when people of an age commensurate with mine achieved significant results. Again, with my successful activities in this field, you will have the opportunity to invest free or temporarily free funds. If you hear my request, I will give you my coordinates:

Regarding: Mr. Suleiman Kerimov

Dear Mr. President,

We, the members of the Légion d'Honneur, are writing to you with this letter and, above all, we want to express our sincere love and respect for France. We appreciate the historically established friendly relations between the peoples of Russia and France, whose enormous cultural heritage has had an invaluable influence on the development of culture, art and social thought in Russia. French achievements of social thought, music, art enriched Russian culture and public life.

Mr. President, with this letter we would like to express our support to Mr. Suleiman Kerimov.

Most of us have known Mr. Kerimov for many years. Friendships bind us, not least because he repeatedly supported many of us when we needed it.

Despite the significant hardships of his life, the volume and extent of his generosity in supporting education and sports, providing medical care to children, maintaining harmonious relations between religions, is very great. We are confident that many respected people can confirm the humanism of Mr. Kerimov and his generous contribution to improving people's lives.

Mr. Kerimov faced ordeal when he suffered significant burns to his body in a car accident in November 2006 in Nice. He went through a coma in which he was immersed in order to endure a period of unspeakable physical suffering, when the burned skin had to be removed, skin grafted, in a small amount remaining viable, and his body in literally left without skin.

Over the following years, traumatic shock to vital organs, oxygen deprivation due to burns, and a strong need for painkillers had a profound effect on the physical condition of Mr. Kerimov.

In January 2011, he suffered a significant deterioration in cardiac function, which required open-heart surgery with cardiac arrest and replacement of three major arteries. Even after this operation, Mr. Kerimov suffers from coronary heart disease with multiple lesions of the coronary arteries, severe damage to the carotid and cerebral arteries that deliver blood to the brain, accompanied by a high predisposition to thrombosis. Specific medical indicators indicate a serious risk of lethal cardiovascular disease.

At the moment, Mr. Kerimov's life is supported by a team of doctors who constantly provide him with comprehensive medical treatment.

We know that Mr. Kerimov respects the law, and we are sure that all measures necessary for full compliance with French laws will be taken.

In connection with the foregoing, we ask that:

  1. The French authorities treated Mr. Kerimov on the basis that his main principle was the full observance of French laws;
  2. All available legal means would be available to remedy the current state of affairs;
  3. In dealing with Mr. Kerimov, he would be given due respect as the highest statesman of the Russian Federation, and that he would be allowed to continue his work in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation;
  4. Due confidence, commensurate with his significant contribution to the life of society, would be given to Mr. Kerimov;
  5. Mr. Kerimov was treated with humanity and humanism so that his life would not be endangered, that he was allowed to return to the medical care necessary to maintain his life, and that he could be reunited with his wife, three children and two grandchildren.

We assure that Mr. Kerimov will fully cooperate with the investigation.

We are ready to provide any other guarantees that will be necessary in order to ensure that Mr. Kerimov is treated with dignity and humanity.

Our peoples are connected by a history of friendship. We ask you, Mr. President, and the people of France, at this moment, to show humanism and humanity towards our friend, Mr. Kerimov, to demonstrate friendly attitude to the people of Russia, to improve relations between our countries to great mutual benefit.

Suleiman Abusaidovich Kerimov (Lezgin by nationality) was born on March 12, 1966 in the city of Derbent (Dagestan). Father - a lawyer, worked in the criminal investigation department; mother worked as an accountant in the system of Sberbank of the Russian Federation.

Suleiman Kerimov is the youngest in the family. It has sibling, a doctor by profession, and a sister, a teacher of Russian language and literature. Parents and relatives - all live in Moscow. In his youth, Suleiman Abusaidovich was fond of judo and kettlebell lifting, was a multiple champion of various championships.

After graduating from high school in Derbent in 1983 (with honors, his favorite subject is mathematics), his penchant for exact sciences first led him to the construction department of the Dagestan Polytechnic Institute. After the first year he was drafted into the army (postponement for students day departments Universities were then abolished).

Thus, in 1984 - 1986, Kerimov served in rocket troops strategic appointment, received the rank of senior sergeant, was the head of the calculation of the Strategic Missile Forces. To a large extent, he gained authority in the military environment thanks to his strong-willed qualities, which also manifested themselves in sports - he was the champion of the kettlebell lifting division.

Returning from the army in 1986, Suleiman Abusaidovich Kerimov continued his studies, transferred to the Faculty of Economics of the Dagestan State University from which he graduated in 1989. This decision was influenced not so much by the prestige of the higher educational institution, how much is the realization that serious changes in the political climate of the country make the profession of a manager who knows the economy promising. The test of organizational abilities during this period was public work by the deputy chairman of the trade union committee of the DSU.

While still a student, Suleiman married a classmate Firuza. Father-in-law, a major party functionary, helped him get a job. Good work- an economist at the Eltav electronic plant, one of the largest enterprises in Dagestan, which produced transistors for the defense industry, as well as Horizont and Record TVs. The transistors were adapted to the requirements of the customer, and the young specialist calculated how much it would cost, compared the cost with competitors ... Soon, a talented economist who had an influential father-in-law became an assistant to the general director for economic issues. The general situation in the industry made it necessary to solve the problems of the enterprise in the capital Glavki. At this time, the circle of business acquaintances in Moscow was actively expanding. The energy of the young businessman, the professionalism of the manager, the desire for independence did not go unnoticed.

With the collapse of the USSR, consumers of Eltava products found themselves in different countries. In order to conduct mutual settlements between disparate enterprises, the plant and its subcontractors - silicon suppliers from Ukraine, semiconductor plants near Moscow and the Belarusian NPO Gorizont - established the Federal Industrial Bank. The bank was registered in Moscow in 1993. Suleiman Kerimov began to represent the interests of Eltava in Fedprombank, first wandered between Dagestan and Moscow, and then rented an apartment and finally settled in the Russian capital.

The banking business in the era of hyperinflation was one of the most profitable, and, of course, Fedprombank was engaged not only in payments to TV assemblers. Karimov's compatriot Magomedtagir Abdulbasirov (former secretary of the Dagestan regional committee of the CPSU) in 1994 headed the Federal Food Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. In 1994-1996, the corporation received about $500 million from the budget for government food purchases.

Fedprombank participated in the distribution of this money, but it is not known how much. “Kerimov did business with Abdulbasirov,” Saadu Magomedov, the former general director of Eltava, said in an interview. “Gradually, electronic factories came out of the capital of Fedprombank. Suleiman bought their shares. By the end of 1996, he had collected a controlling stake." Subsequently, Abdulbasirov was accused of embezzlement of budgetary funds and removed from his post. Kerimov found others the right people. One of them was Sergey Isakov, the then owner of the Orel-Avia airline.

“Isakov was an LDPR activist, he also wanted to become governor instead of Yegor Stroev, but it didn’t work out,” LDPR chairman Vladimir Zhirinovsky said in an interview. - Kerimov worked with him in the mid-1990s, and I met him through Isakov. They then worked together in aviation.”

In 1995, Mr. Kerimov accepted an offer to become Deputy General Director of Soyuz-Finance in Moscow. This Moscow-based company worked in the domestic aviation business, raw materials industries and the banking sector. It was at this time (from 1995 to 1998) Karimov, according to media reports, earned the initial capital.

In April 1997, Kerimov became a researcher at the International Institute of Corporations (Moscow), and in February 1999 he was appointed vice president of this non-profit organization.

By 1997, structures friendly to Kerimov had acquired controlling stakes in Vnukovo Airlines (at that time the second largest airline in Russia), the Murmansk Aviation Enterprise and the Transport and Clearing House (a company selling and booking tickets). legal entity Kerimov's aviation business was FPG Rosaviaconsortium, a major shareholder of which was Fedprombank. Kerimov's acquaintances say that the commission from the sale of air tickets brought him at least $10 million a year. Air travel was more difficult. According to the Accounts Chamber, "investment obligations during the privatization of Vnukovo Airlines were imitated by the conclusion of contracts for the supply of Tu-204 aircraft and payment by illiquid promissory notes." As noted in the bulletin of the chamber, Rosaviaconsortium not only failed to fulfill the investment program for $ 150 million, but also brought Vnukovo Airlines to the loss of the main part of the fleet, complete financial insolvency and the planned takeover by Siberia Airlines. The trade union leader of Vnukovo Airlines, Gennady Borisov, who was trying to fight abuses in the company, was stabbed to death in the entrance of his house in January 1999. Kerimov's partners in Rosaviaconsortium were Ibragim Suleymanov and Tatevos Surinov. Now both of them have been arrested and are under investigation on charges of illegal sale in 2002 of Kazan airport navigation equipment.
