Famous stage designer Boris Krasnov spoke in an interview about how he suffered a stroke and overcame paralysis. According to him, the doctors did not give him a single chance for recovery.

However, Boris Krasnov himself considers it a great achievement that he was able not only to get up from a wheelchair, but also to move independently with a cane. “I walk, though with difficulty. Left hand while not in working order. I also had a right-sided stroke, so the problems are with my left arm and leg. By the way, if it was left-handed, we would not be talking now. Fortunately, the memory did not hurt. I’m having fun here: I ask my assistant to name any football team from the USSR football champions and easily name all the players, including the substitutes, ”he said.
According to the stage designer, he remembers the first time after the stroke poorly - he spent almost three months in a coma. “That’s also why, probably, I’m recovering for so long now. My wife became a guardian angel for me - she did not leave the bed for a minute. And no doubt mine best friend and partner Konstantin Petrov, for which I am very grateful to him. When doctors were asked what percentage of the chances that I would live, they shrugged: none. After I came out of the coma, it was decided to continue the treatment abroad. At first it was a clinic in Germany - I spent six months there. The prognosis of German doctors was disappointing. They said that not only would I never be able to walk, but even to sit in a chair. But I still did not lose heart - I continued to believe in a miracle, ”Express Gazeta quotes Krasnov.
Six months later, he was advised to change clinics. “I was brought to Montreux, Switzerland, on a stretcher. Every day I worked with physiotherapists for many hours - they are, by the way, all Portuguese there, very good specialists who literally force the patient to get up. Nothing moved, not even my feet. When I started moving my legs and shoulders, it was the first victory. Then he learned to get out of bed himself and change into a wheelchair. The pain was terrible, as if everything was crushing you in two. But a few months later I took the first step. Almost three years to be treated in Western clinics without insurance would be unthinkable without the financial support of friends. In addition, for example, Iosif Kobzon and Alla Pugacheva helped to find good specialists. Valera Syutkin, Igor Krutoy, Sasha Faifman visited me in a Swiss clinic, ”Krasnov said.
The stage designer is set only to recover, although he admitted that he dreams of drinking and smoking. “But it is absolutely impossible to do this. After the stroke, I didn't drink a single drink or smoke a single cigarette. And I will not. I want to live and look to the future with optimism. After all, for some reason they left me in this world - probably for something good. In fact, I live now a second life. Indeed, the signal was too serious for a reassessment of values to take place. And it certainly happened, ”concluded Boris Krasnov.
In September 2011, the decorator's reputation was badly tarnished due to extortion attempts. According to the investigation, Krasnov and several accomplices threatened a Moscow businessman with the aim of taking over his company worth five million rubles. As a result, the amount of the pledge for the production designer amounted to the same five million rubles. Soon the decorator was struck by a stroke, because of which he did not appear before the court. After the operation, which he underwent due to the discovery of cerebral edema, the artist fell into a coma, and when he came out of it and began to recover, the doctors deliberately put Krasnov into a coma so that he would not waste strength.
The hasty departure of the decorator for treatment abroad was announced by his lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky. “Boris did not have a written undertaking not to leave, he is on bail, so his movements could easily take place around the world,” the lawyer said, adding that Krasnov’s condition has improved markedly, but he needs a long rehabilitation course due to the serious consequences of a stroke. The decorator was re-taught how to walk and talk. Meanwhile, information appeared that Boris Krasnov could fly out of the country to evade justice. As a result of the investigation in December 2014, no corpus delicti was found in Krasnov's actions.

Was born on January 22, 1961 in Kiev. Father - Reuter Arkady Alexandrovich (born in 1930), was a well-known builder in Kyiv. Mother - Reuter Nata Borisovna (born in 1931), was a member of the Union of Artists, worked as the chief fashion designer at the Kiyanka knitwear factory. Wife - Evgenia, worked for many years as a model for Vyacheslav Zaitsev, then for Valentin Yudashkin, is currently raising two children - Darina (born in 1992) and Daniel (born in 1995).

With regard to Boris Krasnov, the most fair statement is the well-known phrase "Self made man" - "a man who made himself." He is not yet 40, but he is already deservedly famous, his image as a leading stage designer in modern domestic show business is beyond doubt. The name of designer Krasnov is well known not only in Russia, but also in Greece, USA, Israel, Germany...

Until the 5th grade, Boris Krasnov studied at the modeling and drawing studio in the Kiev Palace of Pioneers. Then he graduated from the Republican Art School named after T.G. Shevchenko (Kyiv, 1971-1978), the theater and scenery department of the painting faculty of the Kyiv State Art Institute (1979-1985). He studied with the famous Soviet theater artist Daniil Leader.

He began his labor and creative activity at the Kiev State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Lesia Ukrainka, where he was the acting chief artist and costume designer (1985-1987). It should be noted that Boris Krasnov's father was extremely skeptical about his professional choice, considering the profession of an artist to be an occupation not for a man, and his mother, a professional artist, always believed in her son's success. First successful theatrical performances Krasnov allowed him to win the recognition of his father and mother as a fully accomplished person, and the work on the design of the performance "So we will win" by M. Shatrov at the Theater of Young Spectators in Zaporozhye (1987) was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine named after T. G. Shevchenko .

In 1987, with the move to Moscow, a new and, perhaps, the main stage in the life of Boris Krasnov began. He came to the capital at the direction of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine for a two-year internship. Here he became an artist-trainee of the Moscow Theater named after Lenin Komsomol (1987-1989), at the same time he graduated from the faculty of artists of drama theaters and Youth Theaters of the All-Union Institute for Advanced Training of Cultural Workers of the USSR Ministry of Culture. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as the chief artist of the Moscow theater and concert association "Lenkom" under the direction of Alexander Abdulov. In 1992, Boris Krasnov created the Krasnov Design firm and became its president and artistic director. Krasnov Design is now the leading scenographic company in Russia. His life becomes like a run - constant work ahead of schedule. Days are scheduled by the minute, regardless of whether they are weekdays or weekends. He can arrive home after midnight, and early in the morning be already in full combat readiness. Far from everyone manages to maintain such a rhythm - to be able to manage a large team of people, to clearly follow the work schedule, to keep in mind several completely different projects at once, and at the same time remain a creative artist.

Behind him is the design of the performances of the leading theaters in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus: the Kyiv Theater of Pantomime (N. Boris Krasnov combines three incarnations at once - an artist, set designer and director. The main thing in the work, at the same time, remains an unshakable credo - to do well. Hence the individual creativity to each person or project.

Boris Krasnov gained unique design experience street holidays and mass events. Among which stand out: the presentation of the Coat of arms of the city of Moscow (Noviy Arbat St., Moscow, 1994), "Holy Easter on Tverskaya" (Moscow, 1994), "Christmas on Tverskaya" (Moscow, 1995), " Day of Knowledge" (TsPKiO named after Gorky, Moscow, 1995), Day of Moscow (Vasilyevsky Spusk, 1995), solemn procession "There is a holiday on our street" (decoration of the passage of a column of demonstrators from the Eastern District at the celebration of the 850th anniversary of Moscow, the theme "Metro", Moscow, 1997), Holiday "Hanukkah" (Pushkinskaya Square, Moscow, 1997).

His milestone work was the design of the First World Festival-Competition of Circus Art "Golden Bear" on Red Square in Moscow (1996). The idea to build 13 circus pavilions (each 12 meters high and 25 meters wide) on the main square of the country - a crazy, daring, difficult idea - inspired the artist. Each of the constructed pavilions symbolized one of the geographical points where the foundations of the modern circus were born. There were also the pyramid of Cheops, where the public was shown numbers with trained pythons, the Greek Parthenon, the Roman Capitol, associated with gladiatorial spectacles. In a huge Russian tower, an artificial ice surface was installed, on which young artists from the "Circus on Ice" showed their skills. The delightful imagination of Boris Krasnov shocked and stunned then not only the public, but also fellow specialists, and the circus pavilions built have already entered the history of modern art as "13 wonders of the world."

In 1997, after the resounding success of the First World Festival-Competition of Circus Arts, B. Krasnov was invited to Athens. Here he received an order from the Greek Government to design the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World athletics at the Central Stadium "Kolomarmaros". The proposal was received in April, the stadium was inspected in May, on June 23 (!) all the scenery was ready for loading, and all the work was carried out in Moscow. For the sake of fairness, it must be said that the idea of the scenery belonged to the Greek architect Nikos Petropoulos, and Boris Krasnov acted as the designer. Among the design elements are two sculptures of Apollo 6.5 meters each, a 21-meter sculpture of the goddess of peace Irina, special podiums for the orchestra led by the great Greek composer, multiple Oscar winner Vangelis and performances by Montserrat Caballe. The main element of the scenery was the triumphal arch in front of the entrance to the stadium, 100 meters wide, 24 meters high and 50 meters deep. Its upper part was decorated with bas-reliefs reproducing the metopes of the Parthenon temple. Inside the arch, lined with "marbled" plastic tiles, control panels for laser lighting installations were mounted - a whole computer center, an elevator to the eighth floor level, a spiral staircase, air conditioners, etc. The ceremony was watched by a television audience of approximately 2 billion people, and broadcast by more than 160 television companies around the world. The scenery stood until September 7, the date when the International Olympic Committee made its decision on the venue for the 2004 Olympics, and the Triumphal Arch of Krasnov became in these days no less a landmark of Athens than the famous Acropolis.

On May 10, 11 and 12, 1996, concerts of Russian ballet stars and Maya Plisetskaya were held in New York. These concerts have become one of those events that are remembered by its creators, participants and spectators for a lifetime. Boris Krasnov had the high honor of being the designer of the gala performance of the brilliant Russian ballerina. The scenography, reproducing the hall of the Bolshoi Theater, explains the name of the concert - "Straight from the Bolshoi". When, to the solemn sounds of the Polonaise from P.I. Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin", the curtain rose over the stage of the New York City Center and the audience saw the Bolshoi colonnade, and the quadriga, and the lanterns, and the chandelier shining with lights, many literally had their hearts pinched and welled up tears in the eyes. And this mood did not leave the audience until the dazzling finale, when the glittering golden boxes of the Bolshoi Theater appeared before the shocked audience. Maya left the main, "royal" box and went to the proscenium, towards the hall, which had long since jumped to its feet and enthusiastically roared. The scenery changed seven times during the performance - four times in the first part, three times in the second. Against this nostalgic background, the final parade-alle of the participants took place under the "Italian Capriccio" by P.I. Tchaikovsky. Maya Plisetskaya concluded the parade along with all its participants in her regal dress from Cardin. This became a kind of world record among spectacles with the participation of Russian actors both in Russia and abroad.

The tables were bursting with gourmet dishes and original snacks, and drinks from elite brands were flowing like water. Among the artists who took the stage that evening was the famous singer Tamara Gverdtsiteli. The fun continued until late in the evening.

Recall that in the fall of 2011, Krasnov suffered a stroke. After two years of intensive treatment in Germany, Boris returned to Russia, where he continues to recover to this day. “The left side of Boris’s body still doesn’t work - neither his leg nor his arm. Therefore, when friends, with the permission of the doctors, take him from the hospital to sit with him in a restaurant on Barrikadnaya, Krasnov has to sit in wheelchair. He can’t move on his own,” Oleg, a friend of the set designer, shared with StarHit. - But speech is almost completely restored. Doctors say that this is a miracle, because he was in a coma for about six months!”
