Review of the ice situation on the rivers of the Arkhangelsk region, the Komi Republic and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug
Estimated flow rate in the port of Arkhangelsk on the City and Solombala roadsteads on May 29 will be: maximum 1.54 m/s (3.00 knots), minimum 0.98 m/s (1.91 knots). The flow is one-sided. Water level at morning full water May 29 was 203 cm, at low water - 149 cm.
Due to the formation of a snow-rain flood in the upper reaches of the Pinega River, in the lower reaches the water levels will be kept at the marks that caused the flooding of bridges across the Chusa (64 km), Chuplega (46 km), Tinga (35 km) rivers until June 03.
A spring flood is forming on the Mezen River. The onset of maximum levels is expected on May 30-31.
On the Peza River, ice drift with jam stops is observed.
As of the morning of May 29, on the Pechora River, the head of the main ice drift is observed in the section of the settlement Ust-Usa - Kupshor (654-621 km from Naryan-Mar). Komi weather forecasters spoke about the expected nature of the passage of ice drift and the formation of spring floods.
The winter season 2017-2018 was characterized by anomalous warm weather in the first half and anomalously cold - from mid-February to the end of March.
During the pre-winter period, the soil in the Komi territory was heavily waterlogged. By the end of March, soil freezing everywhere lagged behind the long-term average values by 20–100 cm.
Water reserves in the snow cover everywhere exceed the average long-term values by 10-20%, in the basin of the river. Mustache by 67%.
Taking into account the current and expected hydrometeorological conditions, the beginning of ice drift on the rivers of the Komi Republic is expected in terms close to usual, with a deviation of 3-5 days later.
When the rivers break up, the probability of ice jamming in the traditional sections of the rivers of the Pechora basin remains, but it is not high.
The maximum water levels of the spring flood on clean water are expected to be close to the norm and 30-100 cm higher. For a number of water posts, the maximum water levels will be close, reached and exceed the criteria adverse event- settlements and economic facilities located in coastal flooded zones will fall into the flood zones.
The formation of the maximum water levels of the spring flood is expected on the 10-15th day after the start of the ice drift.
For high-quality and timely provision of hydrological information, it is planned to open seven temporary hydrological posts.
For the prompt transmission of hydrological data, 60 permanent hydrological posts will be involved. If necessary, they will be involved in the submission of accelerated hydrological information for the periods of 06, 08, 12, 16, 24 hours. With the complex development of spring processes, the dates may be changed.
To analyze snow reserves in the Republic of Komi, 63 observation points will carry out frequent snow surveys.
