Chicken rolls with bacon and smoked cheese - a beautiful, tasty and easy-to-prepare dish. Bacon will make chicken fillet more juicy, prevent it from drying out in the oven and, together with cheese, will enrich the taste with new shades.

This dish is another answer to the question of what can be prepared from chicken fillet. The rosy rolls have an appetizing, we would even say, almost festive look, the meat in them is soft and juicy, and the bacon makes the aroma coming out of the oven richer. In short, do it - you won’t regret it!

Need to:

  • Chicken fillet (breasts) – about 0.6 kilograms
  • Bacon (thinly sliced) – 200 grams
  • Smoked cheese – approximately 100 grams
  • Cloves – 3-4 buds (comment “for dummies”: we are talking about a dry spice, not about flowers with the same name!)
  • Black peppercorns – 8-10 peas
  • Ketchup (preferably without starch, spicy or classic - to your taste) - 2.5 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (classic) – 5 tablespoons
  • Salt (if desired and with caution) – very little, shake a salt shaker (like a “mushroom with holes”) a couple of times at most over each chicken breast. You don’t have to add salt at all (we recommend this way for the first time): bacon, cheese, soy sauce are quite salty and will “give” some of their salt to the chicken meat, you may think that this is quite enough

Preparation:

The chicken fillet must first be washed with cold running water and blotted with a paper towel or napkin. We cut each piece into two thin plates (the knife moves in a plane parallel to the cutting board).

Then each piece of chicken fillet needs to be lightly beaten. It’s convenient to do this at home by putting the meat in a thin, clean plastic bag so that splashes don’t fly around your kitchen. Beat lightly: the chicken meat is already quite soft, our task is to make the fillet pieces thinner.

Cut the smoked cheese into small cubes (we focus on a section with a side of about 1 cm, the length of the cheese bar is approximately equal to the widest part of the piece of chicken fillet).

Place a block of cheese on the wider end of the chicken fillet and roll up a roll with cheese inside from the wide end of the piece of meat to the narrower one.

Place 2-3 strips of bacon on a cutting board, close to each other (or even better, slightly overlapping) so that the resulting strip of bacon is close in width to the width of the roll, and wrap the chicken roll in bacon ( watch our video recipe!).

Place the rolls in a deep baking dish of a suitable size (you can close to each other, you can at a short distance - as it turns out). The pan does not need to be greased with anything, the bacon is quite fatty and there will be enough fat to prevent the rolls from burning.

Next, we make a sauce from several ingredients: soy sauce, ketchup, cloves, pepper.

The cloves and peppercorns need to be crushed (ideally, in a mortar; if, like us, you don’t have a mortar on the farm, you can simply crush them on a board, for example, with a puree masher or some other kitchen “tool”). You can use a spice grinder.

Pour chopped pepper and cloves into a small container, add soy sauce and ketchup there. Mix everything until smooth.

Brush the resulting sauce onto the top and sides of the chicken rolls (it’s convenient to use a pastry brush, but you can just use a spoon), just pour the remaining sauce on top.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (this is a medium heat level or a little higher, if you don’t have a thermometer in the oven, turn on the oven to warm up 10-15 minutes before putting the mold in there). Place the pan with rolls in the oven at medium height on a baking sheet or on a wire rack. Bake for 30 minutes. We remind you once again: if you have a glass pan, then place it in a cold oven, then turn on the heat and increase the time the dish remains in the oven by about 15 minutes. After the specified time, our chicken rolls with bacon and smoked cheese are ready, take it out of the oven, put it on plates - and on the table with any side dish: pasta, potatoes, vegetables.

1. Cut the chicken breast into 2-3 pieces. Wrap in cling film and beat well. The meat should be thin, as for making rolls.




2. Cut the cheese into cubes, and the pepper into small cubes.




3. For each piece of chopped fillet, place a strip of cheese and a little pepper. Season with salt and spices.




4. First wrap the chicken in a roll, then wrap it in bacon. The strip of bacon should overlap, so each chicken roll will have 2 pieces of bacon. Bacon can be used to properly “tighten” the chicken meat so that the filling does not leak out during baking and the roll does not fall apart if the meat is torn during beating.






5. Place the rolls in a baking dish. Bake in an oven preheated to 170 degrees for 20 minutes. No additional oil is needed - the dish will cook in the juices of the chicken and soaked in bacon grease. For a simple dinner, you can prepare a similar dish, only a little simpler -.




6. Increase the temperature to 230 degrees and bake for another 20 minutes until the bacon is browned.




It can be served hot or cold as an appetizer or with a side dish.

Step by step recipe

The classic recipe is the fastest and requires a minimum of ingredients to prepare it.

Bacon wrapped chicken rolls should be prepared as follows:

  1. Prepare the fillet: wash, dry and beat with a meat hammer so that the fillet turns into a thin plate;
  2. Mix cheese, finely chopped garlic, herbs, spices;
  3. Grease each prepared chicken plate with this mixture in a layer of approximately 0.7 cm;
  4. Roll into rolls;
  5. Carefully wrap each roll with a slice of bacon, more than one if required;
  6. Place the rolls in a preheated frying pan with heated oil;
  7. Fry for 10 minutes on each side;
  8. Reduce heat, cover with a lid and let simmer for another 10 minutes.

The rolls can be wrapped in foil and stored in the refrigerator. And if served as a second course, then only hot; mashed potatoes, pasta and grilled vegetables are ideal as a side dish.

Chicken rolls wrapped in bacon, baked with cheese

You can bake the dish in the oven with cheese. The crust of this dish is simply amazing, making the dish worthy of a holiday table.

Required ingredients:

  • chicken fillet - 450 g;
  • pork bacon - 7-10 slices;

  5. The greens can be whatever you like best, but dill and basil go best with garlic;
