The Institute of Food Technologies and Design, a branch of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Engineering and Economics, trains specialists to work in the field of catering, hotel and restaurant services, and light industry.
The Institute of Food Technologies and Design, a branch of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Engineering and Economics, was founded in October 2011 on the basis of the Nizhny Novgorod College of Technology. However, its history began back in 1939 - with the creation of the FZU school of the Gorky trust “Rosglavkhleba”, commonly called the school of bakers. In 1958, the school was renamed SPTU No. 55, and 40 years later it was reorganized into the Nizhny Novgorod Technical School of the Food Industry, and then into the Nizhny Novgorod Technological College.
For more than 70 years, the institute has trained thousands of specialists to work in the food industry.
The institute includes:
- Faculty of Technology;
- Faculty of Service;
- Faculty of Technology and Design.
More than 80% of the institute's teaching staff have academic degrees of candidates and doctors of science.
The institute has an effective social partnership mechanism. The basic enterprises of the institute are large and reputable associations and complexes in the food industry - “Nizhny Novgorod Bread” (bread factories; flour mills), the “Pishchevik” association (dairy, alcohol, distillery, brewing and confectionery enterprises), “Grain Union” (mills and flour mills), the Guild of Bakers (private enterprises and baking firms), the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers (cafes, restaurants, hotels in Nizhny Novgorod), the Pir company (cafes, restaurants in Nizhny Novgorod), city and regional food factories ( canteens of schools, children's factories, universities), shopping malls of Nizhny Novgorod, wholesale warehouses of consumer goods.

This year, Height united more than 30 sites! One of the venues was the first Festival of student and youth clubs, organizations and associations of the Nizhny Novgorod region!
From September 19–22, 2019, the Central Union of the Russian Federation and the administration of the Kaluga region, with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, are holding the World Forum of enterprises and consumer cooperation organizations “Bread, you are the world” on the basis of the ethnographic park-museum “Ethnomir”.
On September 2, the Institute of Food Technologies and Design hosted a gala event dedicated to Knowledge Day! First-year students, administration, parents and guests gathered on the main site. According to tradition, the line was opened by the student activist IPTD. The guys lit it up by performing a flash mob with flags.
1st year students of IPTD, under the leadership of the Head of the Department of Humanitarian Disciplines, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Kirill Sergeevich Chastnov, took part in one of the competitions of the national INTEGRATION system, “My Legislative Initiative 2019” and became laureates of the correspondence round of this competition.
On June 28-29, students and teachers of IPTD took part in the scientific and practical conference “Tourist potential of Russia: the formation of new centers of attraction for tourists and development prospects,” which was held on the territory of the RANEPA.
From June 26 to June 27, 2019, the First International Skills Competition “Master of the Silk Road” was held in Beijing. The delegation from Nizhny Novgorod was met by the organizers: Beijing Fengtai Vocational High School.
On June 18 and 19, employees and students of IPTD took part in the All-Russian educational conference "Knowledge. Technologies. Trends in the development of the tourism industry in the Russian Federation" organized by ROSTOURISM and RGUTIS in Nizhny Novgorod."
And again, IPTD reaches the federal level of scientific communication. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from June 6 to 8. The head of the department of humanities, candidate of legal sciences, associate professor Kirill Sergeevich Chastnov took an active part in it.
