Artifact weapons give players a lot of advantages, which can be read in. However, artifact weapons are not only useful, but also beautiful! Each weapon has 24 skins, and in this guide we'll show you how to get them and how long it takes.

1. How to unlock skins

  • Most of the skins can be unlocked at level 110, however, some of them are available by leveling up.
  • In order to open the color variations of the appearance, you must first open the appearance itself.
  • In order to change the appearance of the artifact, you need to go to the forge in the class hall.
  • Artifacts can be transmogrified using the appearance of another weapon. Transmogrification follows the standard rules for weapon types.
  • Some skins change the type of weapon (for example, the Titan Accuracy hidden skin turns Titan Might from a rifle into a bow).
  • All skins and colors are available in any specialization of a single character, but are not available to other characters on the account. In order for them to use skins, they must be rediscovered.

7. Unrealized Skins

In the Wowhead Artifact Calculator, some artifacts have a sixth appearance. At one of the conferences, the developers hinted that new skins will be introduced into the game in the next patches.

Artifact skins

The artifact system will not work after Legion, however, you will be able to use all of your unlocked artifact skins as transmog models. This goes for everything you have earned (colors, models). The artifacts themselves will be “removed” from the game, at the end of this addon we will have a beautiful farewell scene, during which we will give away our artifacts for the sake of a brighter future. However, during Battle for Azeroth you will be able to return to your class hall and the Artifact feature will work exactly as it does now. Many people are wondering - how can I open this or that appearance of the artifact after the Legion? How can I get all this? It's simple - nothing will change. Except for one thing. Skins from the test in the tower of mages will not be available in the next expansion, that is, immediately after the end of the Legion. You will probably want to unlock them all for each specialization, but let me remind you, there are 36 specializations in the game. And this, you know, is quite a serious challenge, especially if you do not have all the pumped classes. Another item that you won't be able to get after the end of the Legion is the Artifact Color for completing Mythic Keystone +15. This achievement will no longer be available. It's worth remembering that at the moment this achievement is tied to a specific character, and not to the entire account. So if you have nothing to do, you can set yourself a goal - get as many artifacts as possible for the mage tower and close the +15 key. If you're thinking about changing your main character for the next expansion, it's time to start doing some things along those lines.

balance of power

The Balance of Power is a long quest chain that began at the very beginning of the Legion. Of course, this task will not disappear anywhere and will be available after the Legion. But now you should start going through these tasks, because then it will simply be difficult to find a group to complete. Yes, and unlocking colors, as I said, is also difficult (for example, one of the colors, just for the epochal key +15).

PvP skins

We are not yet 100% sure how the skins that are obtained by achieving certain successes in PvP will work. Now everything looks like nothing will change, because everything is tied to prestige levels. Probably, in this regard, you can be calm, but you can start farming prestige now - the last coloring opens at level 15.

Secret Skins

Continuing the theme of artifacts, I must say that everyone has secret skins, yes, of course, you can unlock them after the Legion, but, you know, most often you need to do small tasks there, so it's better to do it before the next addon, just then it will really laziness. Also, many of the secret skins are unlocked after killing a certain world boss, and they have a rotating schedule, so you know, it's best not to be late with this, otherwise you will end up with a “reload” of the schedule later.

main character

And so, I strongly advise you to take care of choosing your main character, which you will play in the next addon. I wouldn't advise you to do this if the next addon was "Warlords of Draenor" as we went through a big class redesign back then, but we're not going to have a big redesign this time around. Only a few of them will be recycled. The biggest redesign awaits demonologist warlocks and survival hunters. The developers said they were too unhappy with how these classes now look. Otherwise, the basic principles of the game will be preserved, so you can safely choose your new class, if, of course, you think about it at all. Do not forget that all the abilities of artifacts will be reworked in one way or another. Many of them will disappear, while others will move on as talents. So I advise you one thing - try as many classes as possible and decide for yourself one thing: who to play in the next addon? Don't rush, you have about 9 months left. You can safely do this now, because, to be honest, not very many new things for end-content appeared with the release of 7.3.5 and, if you have already closed Antorus, then, in fact, there is nothing more to do. In addition, now there is a scaling technology for old locations, so everything is conducive to this. It is enough for you to get level 34-40 of the character to understand the basis of its mechanics - then you can already answer the question “did I like this class”?

Allied Races

The next thing I would suggest you do before Battle for Azeroth comes out is to make sure you reach all of the Allied Races unlock requirements. One of the main conditions, of course, is to buy the addon itself, but there are several other conditions. For example, to unlock the Highmountain Tauren, you'll need to complete an achievement related to the location's storyline and be exalted with that race. So it's easy to assume that you need to get Exalted with other factions as well - Argussian Reach, Army of the Light, and of course the Nightfallen. And also complete all the story missions associated with these factions (including the achievement "Uprising" in Suramar). Of course, if you play Legion from the start, then you will not have any problems - this is obvious, because you have most likely already completed these points.

Mounts

Next up are mounts from raids. If you can close the Antorus Mythic mode, then, of course, do it, now getting a mount from Argus in this mode is 100%, however, after the release of the Battle for Azeroth, the chance will be reduced and become 1%. But if you do not have such an opportunity, then complete Antorus at least in heroic mode, this guarantees you a mount that will not be available after the end of the Legion. Also, you can farm pets from some bosses, such as Hounds of Sargeras or Mistress Sanshjin, which drop interesting mounts.

Focus on interesting things, it's time to get ready for Battle for Azeroth! Good luck!

In this guide, we will tell everything about Legion artifacts in World of Warcraft. We will give detailed information about the talents and relics of artifacts, their appearance, strength and knowledge of the artifact in WOW.

Artifacts are unique weapons for each specialization added in Legion. The power of such weapons grows as the player progresses through the plot of the add-on.

Note: made some changes to the artifact system. Main: new talents have appeared and new artifact skins have become available. For minor changes, read the patch 7.2 guide (section on artifacts).

What you need to know about artifacts in WoW

Basic information:

  • There is an artifact for each specialization of each class - thus, there are 36 combat artifacts in the Legion. This is an exceptionally powerful weapon.
  • The 37th artifact is related to fishing - this is a fishing rod for anglers.
  • To get an artifact, you need to complete the quest chain for your specialization. As you progress through the quests, you will learn a lot of information about famous members of your class.
  • Artifact is the main weapon of your character in the Legion. There is no stronger weapon.
  • Artifact traits/talents (Traits) - improve the abilities of your class.
  • Relics are items that can be inserted into an artifact to enhance certain talents and increase the overall level of the item (and, accordingly, its characteristics).
  • Artifact Power grows as Artifact Power is gained. This opens up new available talents and relics.
  • Artifact Knowledge is a special system that allows players to get artifacts for the second and third specializations faster.
  • All artifacts of your class can be obtained through the class hall campaign.
  • Artifacts come in a variety of styles and colors that can be unlocked through certain actions. An artifact can be transmogrified into another weapon (see the Legion transmog guide), but a weapon cannot be made into an artifact form.

Artifact Power in WOW Legion

Artifact talents can be upgraded using Artifact Power. At the same time, Artifact Power is not a currency (it cannot be accumulated and spent), but rather looks like experience: by receiving Artifact Power, you unlock new talents in the talent tree of your weapon.

The current amount of available Artifact Power is displayed above the experience bar. Hovering over it will show you how many Artifact Power you need before unlocking the next talent.

Artifact Power in the Legion can be obtained through the use of consumable items, such as a Glass of Dalaran Wine or a Brief History of the Ages.

Items that give Artifact Power can be obtained in different ways:

  • Treasure search;
  • Missions in the class hall;
  • PvP victories on battlefields and arenas;
  • Completion of major quests or world tasks;
  • Chests for completing a series of local quests (for 4 tasks for one faction);
  • Additional goals and bonus tasks in the open world;
  • Drop from rares, bosses in Legion dungeons and raids, world bosses;
  • Passage of random dungeons on normal and heroic difficulty;

Good video about Artifact Power:

When you get one of these items, click on it to add Strength to the artifact currently equipped on the character.

  • If you want to add Artifact Power to a weapon in your inventory (an artifact for your other specialization), you must first equip that artifact before using the consumable item.
  • The power of artifacts is calculated separately for each weapon. That is, if you add 10,000 Artifact Power to your current Artifact, it will not affect weapons for your other specializations in any way.

The amount of Artifact Power gained from similar consumable items is can be increased with Artifact Knowledge. More about this is written in the corresponding section of our guide.

Each time you spend Strength on upgrading an artifact's talents, the cost of unlocking subsequent talents increases significantly. To pump the first talent, you need 100 units of Strength, and then this number can go up to 5,000,000.

Artifact talents (features)

Features (or talents) of an artifact - these are special skills that open as the artifact is upgraded. To learn each talent, you need Artifact Power, and as you level up more talents on one weapon, subsequent talents require more and more Artifact Power.

Each artifact weapon has one free talent (the very first one) that requires no resources to upgrade and gives you a powerful class ability. Usually the ability from the first talent is active and appears on your ability bar, but for some classes and specializations it can be passive.

Relic Effect #1: Item Level Up

Each relic has a certain item level - in beta it ranged from 670 to 895.

  • The higher the level of the relic, the more item levels it will add to the artifact.
    • For example, Soul Fibril (lvl 805, crafting) will add +31 ilvl to the weapon, and Flickering Spark of Time (lvl 850, drop in raids) will add +43 ilvl.
    • Relics dropped in dungeons, raids, and world bosses have a chance to be upgraded by +5 item levels when dropped. Given all the difficulty options, the maximum item level for these relics is 895.
  • The starting level of all artifacts is 750, and each relic inserted into the socket increases this level. The maximum artifact level that can be overclocked in T19 content is 918(with three improved relics of level 895).

Relics can be inserted into your artifact to increase the level of the item. Each relic also allows you to increase the rank of one feature of the artifact.

The table below shows the levels of relics depending on the source of receipt:

Source Level Level boost Remarks
Regular quests and world quests 670-815 +2-33 ilvls Quest rewards scale with the player's level when they turn in a quest.
World Quest rewards are level 805+ (upgraded ones can proc)
Normals 700-805+* +2-31 ilvls The item level depends on the level of the character at the time of killing the monster/boss.
craft 805 +31 ilvls Crafting relics cannot be upgraded with Obliterium like other crafting items
Heroics 825+* +36 lvls
Raids (LFR) 835+* +39 lvls
Mythic dungeons 840+* +40 lvls
Raids (normals) 850+* +43 lvls
World bosses 860+* +46 lvls
Raids (Heroic) 865+* +48 lvls
Raids (mythic) 880+* +52 lvls
Max level 895 +56 lvls

* Relics marked with an asterisk may be randomly upgraded when dropped. The table in this guide lists the minimum item level for them.

Relic Effect #2: Talent Bonus Ranks

Each relic improves a specific artifact talent. On the wowhead, a list of such talents can be viewed by selecting the “Upgrades” tab on the relic page. Thus, if you want to buff a certain talent on an artifact, you need to look for special relics.

  • The relic immediately gives an additional rank and increases it. If it was 0/3, it will become 1/4.
  • Relics do not allow you to cheat the talent system: if a relic turned a 0/1 talent into a 1/2 talent, you will still need to level up one rank to advance further up the talent tree.
  • One talent can be maxed out to rank 6/6. In this case, all three relics in the artifact slots must improve one talent.

How to get an artifact in WoW Legion

The first artifact in the Legion can be obtained already at level 100.

All classes receive their artifact through the completion of the introductory quest chain. In this case, you will need to use the unique abilities of your specialization.

For example, Survival hunters will actively use traps, and Assassination rogues will move around Stormwind in Stealth mode.

At the end of the quests, you gain access to the class hall, as well as learning how to operate an artifact and a command table for missions in the hall.

Obtaining the second, third, fourth artifact

After reaching level 102, your character will be able to get artifacts for all specs of your class. For most, this is 3 artifacts, for Demon Hunters - 2, for druids - 4.

To get the second artifact, you need to return to the class hall and take the task to select an artifact. The game will then prompt you to complete the quest chain for that weapon.

After receiving the second artifact, a chain will become available for obtaining the third (and then, for the druids, the fourth).

A video of the chains for obtaining an artifact can be viewed at Youtube.

Note:

  • The chain for each artifact was created taking into account specialization: healers will need to heal the group, tanks will need to take on monsters, damage dealers will need to complete standard quests to collect items / kill monsters.
  • You can change specialization along the chain. That is, you can chain a healer in the dd-spec if you kill all the enemies before they destroy your group. However, this will not be the easiest task.
  • If you have multiple artifacts, they will be automatically equipped when you switch specializations. You cannot equip an artifact that does not match your current specialization.
  • Artifacts cannot be destroyed. Remember that each received artifact will always occupy one cell in the inventory.
  • Obtaining all artifacts available for your class is rewarded with an achievement Impressive arsenal .

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact Knowledge serves to increase the Artifact Power you gain from items over time.

  • Artifact knowledge becomes available at level 110. You will receive two tasks related to the fulfillment of orders:
    • Hidden History - Recover 4 volumes of lore scattered across Azeroth.
    • Digging in books - complete a work order.
  • Once both quests are completed, you can continue completing quests for Artifact Data, which increase your Artifact Knowledge level.
  • At the start of the Legion completing one order for Artifact Data takes 5 days. However, a special system will be implemented in the new addition, which will count the number of days from the launch of the Legion, and based on this number, reduce the order lead time to 4 days, 3 days, and so on.
    • This system is designed for alts and those who will start playing much later than the Legion release date.
  • Each order for Legion Artifact Notes will cost 500 Order Resources (read Where to Get Order Hall Resources in Legion).

1.1. Main Color: Available by default.

1.2 Color #2: Return one of the Pillars of Creation.

You can get one Pillar of Creation through the quest chain in each of the Legion locations. Below is a list of pillars, their final quests, and their respective locations:

Aegis of Aggramar Securing the Aegis Stormheim
Hammer of Khaz'goroth Hammer of Khaz'goroth Highmountain
Tear of Elune Tears of Elune Valshara
Fight in Style: Enhanced Look .

2.1. Primary Paint: Complete the campaign in a Class Hall.

In fact, you need to get the achievement Forged for battle .

2.2. Color #2: Unlock all artifact talents.

2.4. Color #4: complete the achievement This side up .

The only artifact color scheme associated with Archeology. To get it, you need to collect 8 rare archaeological projects in the Legion.

Please note that in Legion, rare finds are obtained differently than in other expansions. Every two weeks, the Archeology Trainer (Dariness the Learned) will have a quest that rewards you with a rare project. To complete the quests from the Archeology teacher, you need level 110.

3. Valiant look

Achievement for all 4 skins: Fight in Style: Valiant View .

3.1. Primary Livery: Complete the Balance of Power questline.

This is a fairly long chain that starts in your class hall at level 110 and has many stages. Among other things, you will need to bring 30 Blood of Sargeras (read How to get the Blood of Sargeras in WOW), complete several heroic dungeons and get items from the Emerald Nightmare raid.

3.2. Color #2: complete the achievement Unleashed Monsters .

To get the achievement, you need to kill 8 of the 10 Legion world bosses in the Broken Isles.

3.3. Color #3: Complete the challenge mode dungeon using a level 15 key.

To unlock this coloration, you need to complete a Mythic dungeon on difficulty level 15. You can use your own key or someone else's.

3.4 Color #4: complete the achievement Glory to the Hero of the Legion .

This meta-achievement requires you to complete 26 achievements in 10 Legion dungeons on Mythic difficulty. The achievement is shared per account, and the given appearance for the artifact is the same.

4. Hardened look

5.2. Color #2: Complete 100 dungeons using the hidden artifact skin option.

5.3. Color #3: Complete 200 Artifact Hidden Skin World Quests.

5.4. Color #4: Kill 1000 enemy players using a hidden Artifact Skin.

6. Sixth skin (one of the Legion patches)

So far, nothing is known about how to get the sixth variant of the appearance for Legion artifacts. Information will appear closer to one of the next patches (7.1, 7.2, etc.)

For all artifact appearance options for each class and specialization, see the artifact calculator on the wowhead (in the "Appearance" tab).

Legion Artifact Hidden Effects

Artifacts in Legion can have various hidden effects.

Here is what one of the developers of WOW Legion had to say about it:

"When dealing with items as powerful as some of the artifacts players will receive in Legion, no one knows what mysterious things can happen."

There are several speculations about what might be the hidden artifact effects in Legion:

  • Hunter's Celerity, Feral Druid: Ashhide's claws are imbued with the blood of beasts, granting 3% movement speed. The effect is removed when the druid enters combat.
  • Gaze of the Valkyr, Fury Ward: If the warrior kills an enemy within 8 seconds after the effect is triggered, he recovers 50% of his health.
  • Ashbringer, Retreat Paladin: There is a chance that the Ashbringer will instantly kill a small demon or undead near the character.
  • Summon Eagles, Hunter: When the hunter's health drops below 40%, an eagle comes to his aid for 10 seconds; fires no more than once every three minutes.

Some artifacts can talk to their owners (such as Aluneth for the Arcane Mage or the Skull of the Man'ari for the Warlock), and will whisper something more than once while adventuring around the world.

Video of the hidden effect Valkyr's Gaze (furi var):

cosmetic effects

Artifacts also have some cosmetic effects associated with them in the game:

  • Paladins can see demons in Dalaran with Revealing Light.
  • The air elementals in the Stormheim location are friendly to the shamans of the Elements branch.
  • Some classes have a special animation for the Withdrawn status (frost dk, druids and shamans of healing).
  • Some NPCs react to a character with an artifact. For example, an elven blacksmith in Dalaran admires Felo'Melorn (an artifact of the firebenders).

Artifact FAQ

This section of the artifact guide collects the most frequently asked questions about the main weapons of the Legion.

1. How much space does the artifact take up in the bag?

Two-handed artifacts obviously occupy one cell. But, interestingly, double artifacts (for example, Fist + Shield) also take up only one place in the bag. Agree, this is a nice space saver, especially if you collect artifacts for several specializations.

2. How does transmogrification work with artifacts?

You can transmog an artifact to another weapon, but you cannot transfer the Artifact Form to another weapon. You can use different transmogrifications for different parts of an artifact (for example, daggers for the right and left hands).

3. Can you change talents, relics or the appearance of an artifact anywhere?

Relics can be inserted into weapons anywhere. To change the appearance and activate new talents (ranks), you need to be near a special mountain in your class hall. To redistribute talents on the artifact, you need to talk to the NPC, who is standing next to the mountain in the class hall.

4. What should I do if I chose the wrong artifact, sold an old weapon and want to level up to level 102 in another spec?

Your class hall quartermaster sells level 740 weapons, off-hands, and shields for 100 gold each. You can purchase them as an artifact replacement before reaching level 102.

5. Is it possible to destroy an artifact in WoW?

After completing the quest chain and obtaining the artifact, you will not be able to destroy it or sell it to the merchant.

6. How to see the leveling of artifact talents of other players?

In the standard interface of World of Warcraft, you can not see the layout of the artifact talents of other characters, but you can see the level of the item.

7. Can artifact skins be used for transmog after Legion?

Most likely, yes - all variants of the appearance of artifacts can be transmogrified after Legion (in the next expansion). In this case, it is understood that the skins will be unlockable during the Legion, but will not be obtainable after the expansion. This also applies to the new forms of the druid (the appearance of the Cat and the Bear changes from the artifact).

8. Can artifacts be used in PvP?

Artifacts and their effects can be used in all PvP situations: arenas, battlegrounds, open world.

9. Will Artifact Knowledge be account-wide?

No, Artifact Knowledge will not be account-bound. This system allows you to get artifacts for alternate specializations faster, but not for alternate characters.

10. How long will it take to download the first artifact to the maximum?

It will take several months to upgrade all 34 artifact talent ranks in WWII Legion. The developers did not name a more exact figure.

We can't wait to hear your opinion on the introduction of such weapons as artifacts in the Legion - we are waiting for your feedback in the comments!

If you liked the artifact guide, share the link to it on social networks.

We touched on the mechanics and leveling of this new type of weapon. In this part, we'll talk about how to change the appearance of World of Warcraft: Legion artifacts.

Update Patch 7.2. In patch 7.2, new artifact skins were introduced. .

At the release, it is planned that artifacts will have five different styles or types (the sixth will not be at the launch of the add-on, most likely it will be released in some patch) and each style will have its own color scheme. There are several paths that will reveal to you these types and variations of the type of artifact. Remember that you can change them in the Artifact Forge in the Class Hall.

A few important notes. Remember that you can transmogrify an artifact using a different weapon/ A certain style of weapon changes its type - for example, for VM hunters, an artifact can be both a bow and a gun. The first five types that will be available at launch are described below:

  • classic view: quests related to the Class Hall;
  • improved view: achievements and quests related to the Class Hall, leveling the artifact and archeology;
  • Valiant View: PvE Progress (5ppl Dungeons)
  • hardened view: PvP progress (prestige levels);
  • hidden view: the path of obtaining varies for each individual spec;
  • other species: were discovered by dataminers, but what they can be obtained for is still unknown.

In order to open variations of a certain style, you must first open its “main view” (Main Tint). For example, in order to gain access to the “improved” style branch, you need to complete the Balance of Power quest chain, and only then you need to complete all the other achievements necessary to get other style variations.

Style variations are unlocked on a per-character basis and do not apply to all characters on an account - you will need to repeat the achievements on each of them in order to access the Artifact Weapon Style. The only exception to this rule is the "Glory to the Hero of the Legion" meta-achievement, which is given for getting all the achievements in 5ppl.

Now more about how to access the view and its variations.

The Balance of Power allows you to unlock a new look for your artifact. To complete the quest chain, you will need to visit the Emerald Nightmare and visit a couple of mythic dungeons. First, research the Artifact Data and gain 45000 Artifact Power, then complete the Glorious Campaign. These manipulations will open the Projection of Kalec in your stronghold, from which you will receive the quest "Hidden Help". Go to Azsuza, talk to the magician himself and get the "Heart of Zin-Azshari" from him, after completing it you get the "Power of Nightmare" and go to Darkheart Thicket. For the following quests - "Old Vanity" and "Temptation of Darkness" you will need to purchase the Potion of Vanity and the Blood of Sargeras. The next task is "Clarity of the Force", only after it you will go to the Emerald Nightmare, where you have to complete "In the Nightmare" and "The Essence of the Force". This will be the end of the chain to achieve the Balance of Forces.
