In it, my colleague called the new product “an improved and refined version of Gear S2”, however, in my opinion, there are fundamental differences between the models that can easily push users to change their predecessor to a new version.

Yes, and in different versions of the firmware, the watch behaved differently, the screen either constantly burned, showing training data, then it went out and you had to shake your hand to see the indicators. On the Samsung hotline, the operator explained the problem with the charge drop, said that the employees of the service center in my city could confirm this fact. Then the operator recommended once again to send the watch to the service in Moscow. After another 2 weeks, the master from the service center called me and confirmed that the problem still existed and said that he completely changed the board, and now the battery is working as it should. In addition to everything, I swam in the clock in the pool, in the river, under the shower - water does not get inside, it only pours into the speaker and microphone, which causes the sounds to be distorted until it dries. Also, when immersed in water or in the shower, communication with the phone via bluetooth is lost. The watch case is solid! While snowboarding through the snows of Elbrus and the forests of Cheget, I repeatedly hit trees or other hard objects for hours - the glass turned out to be durable, only the bezel got scratches. Over time (after about 1.5 years) I found that in some places on the metal rim (between the glass and the bezel) black paint is coming off - not critical. By the way, later, in order to avoid a "tragedy", I pasted a protective glass with Ali. Software that is updated periodically fixes some glitches but does others. So at one time the clock just started to freeze - the screen did not turn on, the buttons and the bezel did not respond, I had to reboot by holding the menu button for 10 seconds.

The whole notification system is not bad, but only if the smart watch is used together with any other Samsung gadget. In tandem with other devices, synchronization errors cannot be avoided.

However, not everything is going smoothly when working with native smartphones, certain applications may not work correctly or require constant adaptation. Based on all of the above, we can safely say that the price of this device is too high.

As for the sound quality, it remains on top even at the maximum volume level. During the conversation, no interference, sound distortion was detected. However, for listening to audio recordings, it is worth giving preference to a Bluetooth headset.

Today, the Gear s3 is the only watch that supports the Samsung Pay app. Therefore, paying with a plastic card of any bank has become even more convenient. It is important to note that the application has a limit of 10 payments, after which you will have to re-verify each card.

But you don't have to count every purchase, the smartwatch will notify you in advance of the required procedure. In addition, the level of security is quite high. Without entering a personal PIN, the Samsung Pay app will not work. The case is sealed, certified according to the IP 68 standard, which allows you to “drown” the watch in water, but only by 1.5 meters and no more than half an hour. And yet, swimming with such an expensive device is not worth it, and even more so, in salt water. Well, at least you can safely walk in the rain. And for lovers of extreme recreation, there is Samsung Gear S 3 Frontier, which received a military protection standard (MIL-810G). This device is already more suitable for the description of the unkillable. He is not afraid of falls, temperature changes, vibrations.

The front side of the Samsung Gear S 3 is occupied by a screen that is in a recess to prevent scratches from quickly appearing. It is framed by a bezel (turning bezel), it serves as one of the controls. The idea, of course, is not new (used in Gear S 2), but it has become more convenient - the bezel has become ribbed. The control buttons ("Home" and "Back") are on the right side, there is also a microphone. The Gear S 3 Classic has oval buttons, while the Frontier has rectangular buttons with a rough surface. On the left side you can see only the perforations of the external speaker. The back side is made of plastic, in the middle of the cover there is a heartbeat sensor.

A serious advantage of the Samsung Gear S 3 was the fastening of the straps - a standard 22 mm. This allows you to install almost any strap, and from third-party manufacturers. Replacement is not difficult. The Classic comes with a leather strap. Pretty good quality and comfortable, has a classic clasp. The Frontier has a rubber strap to match the positioning of the watch. Both models fit perfectly, they will look more stylish, of course, on a man's hand. Massiveness and large dimensions are only beneficial, giving the device a truly solid and expensive look.

Screen

The display, in comparison with the Samsung Gear S 2 (1.2 inches), has become a little larger - 1.3 inches. Stayed completely round. The manufacturer did not increase the resolution, leaving 360x360 pixels, apparently, the reason for the decision was application compatibility. The pixel density is 278dpi . In terms of picture quality and color reproduction, the Gear S 3 display is not inferior to the screens that the company installs in its flagship smartphones, which, in principle, is not surprising. There is no graininess, the brightness pleases, the level of which is really enough, and sometimes you even have to turn it down so as not to go blind at night.

There is an automatic brightness control. By the way, the manufacturer managed to hide the sensor so skillfully in a small case that the user will not notice it. Installed glass Gorilla Glass SR + from Corning, there is an excellent oleophobic coating. Supports the Samsung Gear S 3 screen up to 2 simultaneous touches, there is a high sensitivity mode that allows you to work with the watch while wearing gloves.

With confidence, we can call Samsung Gear S 3 one of the most productive watches on the market. Enough for the next two years.

The novelty of the South Korean manufacturer boasts support for the most common wireless interfaces: Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS / GLONASS, MST, NFC. Frontier, in addition, adds work in 3G / 4G networks via eSIM. But in Russia this standard is not supported, which can be called a minus, albeit not the most serious one. But the pluses include GPS / GLONASS, which in smart watches work at the hardware level, and not through a smartphone.

The duration of the Samsung Gear S 3 on a single charge can be envied by many Chinese smart watches. The novelty is equipped with a fairly capacious 380 mAh battery, which demonstrates about 3-4 days of honest work, depending on the intensity of use. Operating system, interface

Samsung Gear S 3, like its predecessors, received the proprietary Tizen OS version 2.3.2. Using their own system allowed the manufacturer to implement interesting features that Android Wear does not have. Circle UI is used as a shell. In general, watch management is tied to the bezel, yet it was not just installed like that. Rotary actions select the necessary, and to confirm, just tap on the screen. Simple and very convenient. Thus, you can select watch faces, scroll through widgets, switch tracks in the player, and so on. The swipe control is still present, but I don’t really want to return to it after seeing the swivel bezel in action.

The Samsung Gear S 3 has widgets familiar to many from smartphone desktops. The key is the watch face, which cannot be removed, but can be customized or changed to a completely different one. The remaining widgets have taken their rightful places on desktops. You can already delete them, change them at your discretion. To access widgets, just turn the bezel clockwise.

Turning it counterclockwise brings up the notification menu from the watch itself and the smartphone. Here you can immediately reply to the message by clicking the appropriate item, however, this will not work with every notification. To delete, you need to swipe the notification with a swipe up. By pressing the bottom button, we get into the application menu. In a separate menu, you can view information about the user's activity, yet it is much more convenient to do this on a large smartphone display. In addition, you will have to install applications on your watch from your smartphone; for this, the Samsung Apps service is used.
