This news has become a real sensation today. 22 years after the death of rapper Tupac Shakur, the name of the killer has become known! Details later in the material.

One of the most mysterious and unsolved crimes of our time was murder. Recall that Tupac Shakur died in the fall of 1996, having received several gunshot wounds. Tupac was taken to the hospital, where he was put into an induced coma. The doctors were unable to stop the internal bleeding, and Shakur died on September 13. And now sensational news is being discussed on the Web: the name of Tupac's killer has been named.

Dwayne Keith Davis, who is known as Keefe D, in one of the episodes documentary film Netflix's "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Biggie" named the perpetrator. According to him, this Tupac's nephew, Orlando Anderson, nicknamed Baby Lane.

Orlando Anderson

People have been following me for 20 years. I decided to speak up now because I have cancer. There is nothing to lose. I want the truth. During the murder, I was with the criminal in the same car.

According to Keefe Dee, the cause of the tragedy, as well as the motive, was a personal quarrel: allegedly Anderson tried to rob Tupac's friend, for which they beat him. In retaliation, he planned the assassination of Shkur.

It is difficult to say which of this is true, because more than 20 years have passed since the murder of Tupac. But there is an opinion that Keefe himself was one of the killer's accomplices. To find out, the film's producer, Kyle Long, turned the case over to the Las Vegas police. Unfortunately, the killer himself cannot be brought to justice: he was killed in a shootout in Los Angeles two years after Tupac's death.

The Netflix series Cold Case is based on the investigation of two high-profile deaths - rapper Tupac Shakur and his colleague Christopher Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G. Both died in the 1990s during the "war of the coasts" that unfolded between the hip-hop artists of the East and West coasts USA. The killers have never been found, but the Netflix show seems to have finally shed light on Tupac's death, 22 years after he died.

The name of the killer was named by the former gangster Keefe D

Former gangster Dwayne Keith Davis, also known as Keefe D, previously admitted to witnessing the rapper's murder. In an interview for the Death Row Chronicles documentary, released a few months before the Netflix series, the mobster said that at the time of the murder he was in the car from which Tupac was shot. He also identified three other people who were in the car with him - Terrence Brown at the wheel, Deandre Smith on the left rear, and Davis' nephew Orlando Anderson on the right in the back seat, behind his uncle. Davis said that one of those sitting behind him shot, but he refused to say who exactly, citing the "street code". According to him, he was the only living person who knew the truth about Tupac's death.

The gangster's nephew turned out to be a criminal

During the filming of Cold Case, Davis first named the killer - it turned out to be the gangster's nephew Orlando Anderson, also known as Baby Lane. He shot the rapper after his Cadillac caught up with the performer's BMW at a traffic light. According to Davis, driver Terrence Brown deliberately turned the car around after he saw the artist - he greeted the fans, leaning out of the car's sunroof. Anderson died in a shootout two years after Shakur's death. One of the executive producers of the series "Cold Case" called on the police to file charges against Davis, who confessed to hiding the perpetrator.

Anderson and Tupac clashed ahead of shootout

The conflict between Tupac and Anderson, who belonged to the warring criminal gangs (Bloods and Crips, respectively) began hours before the murder after Anderson tried to steal a Death Row Records medallion from a member of the rapper's entourage. Tupac and his accomplices beat Anderson the same evening in Las Vegas, where they were watching a duel between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. After that, Anderson and his gang friends decided to take revenge on the artist and went looking for him in a car.

The murder could not be solved for 22 years

Tupac's death remained a mystery for 22 years, giving rise to many conspiracy theories. A day after the death of the artist, Sergeant Kevin Manning, who led the investigation, said that the case "may never be solved." Orlando Anderson was one of the suspects, but he was never charged. In 1997, shortly before his death, he gave an interview in which he called himself a fan of Tupac and denied any involvement in his murder. In 2002, The Los Angeles Times published an investigation entitled "Who Killed Tupac Shakur?", in which the author named Anderson as the killer. In 2011, a former detective investigating the murder of another rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., published a book in which he claimed that rapper Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and Diddy, ordered the killing of Tupac from Davis for a million dollars.

After 21 years, the mystery surrounding the murder weapon was solved

In 2017, the Los Angeles Police Department revealed the fate of the missing gun that allegedly shot rapper Tupac Shakur. A lot of conspiracy theories unfolded around the murder weapon when it disappeared from the list of material evidence in 2006. According to sources from law enforcement, the 40-gauge Glock first fell into the hands of the police, and after analysis, which confirmed that a rapper was shot from it 10 years earlier, passed to federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, firearms and explosives. Agents speculated that the gun was also used for another crime committed in Las Vegas. The weapon was handed over to the local police, who conducted their tests and found that Shakur was not shot from this Glock. The gun was destroyed by law enforcement officers in 2013. Thus, the “mysteriously disappeared” weapon had nothing to do with the death of the hip-hop artist.

Tupac knew his killer

Tupac was shot on September 7, 1996. Four bullets hit him: two entered the chest, one in the arm, one in the leg. One of the bullets pierced his right lung. The doctors took the wounded rapper to the hospital, Shakur was conscious and said that he would die soon. He was put into a coma and later regained consciousness. Shakur passed away on September 13th. In 2014, one of the police officers said that he had witnessed the last seconds of the artist's life. According to him, he asked Tupac who killed him. “Go to hell,” he replied, and these were his last words.

On Monday, July 2, American television producer Kyle Long turned to the Las Vegas police with a sensational statement. He claims that he knows all the circumstances of the murder legendary rapper Tupac Shakur(pictured in the header), who was shot dead in 1996.

The death of this talented musician and actor is considered one of the most mysterious crimes in US history. For 22 years, a great many conspiracy theories have appeared about who could have killed Shakur. And millions of his fans believe that Tupac is alive and will soon make itself felt.

Kyle Long is working with Netflix on the 10-episode documentary Untold. It's about about the most high-profile murders of the 20th century committed in the United States, and still not solved by the police. One of the episodes is dedicated to the death of Tupac Shakur.

The film crew met with gangster Dwayne Keith Dee Davis. He stated that he knew everything about Shakur's murder. " I kept this secret for 22 years. And I'm the only one who can tell the whole truth today. The rest are already dead. And now I don't care. I was diagnosed with cancer. And soon I will be finished. So I'm ready..."

Keefe Dee during a conversation with the film crew

Keefe D claims his nephew shot Tupac Shakur. The guy's name was Orlando Anderson, nicknamed Baby Lane. He is no longer alive. Orlando died in a shootout in 1998.

“He was a cocky fellow. With Tupac, Baby Lane had a personal account. Then(September 13, 1996 - Ed.) A lot of people came to Las Vegas. At the MGM Grand Hotel, Mike Tyson fought in the ring with Bruce Seldon. My tribe, shortly before the start of the battle, pierced. Baby Lane wanted to steal a Death Row Records medallion from someone close to Tupac." Keefe Dee recalls.

Anderson was caught red-handed. The medallion was not easy. Death Row Records was associated with the Los Angeles gang The Bloods. And Orlando was a member of another gang - The Crips. These two numerous and dangerous criminal gangs competed fiercely with each other in California and several other states. They were the real masters of the streets.

Anderson's attempt to steal the locket was taken as a challenge to the entire gang. After the fight, Tyson Orlando was watched by people from Tupac Shakur's entourage and beaten.

Orlando Anderson alias Baby Lane

Baby Lane came to lick his wounds at his uncle's hotel. " I couldn't leave it unanswered. Keefe Dee - the king of the streets from Compton, a drug dealer - would lose all his influence. I took my nephew and two other guys, we got into the car and went to look for Shakur and his people., Davis says.

According to him, Terrence Brown, nicknamed T-Brown, was driving. In the back seat are Baby Lane and Deandre Smith, nicknamed Dre. Keefe Dee himself was in the front passenger seat.

“We knew which hotel Tupac and his team were staying at. We drove up there. There was a crowd of girls there. They squealed with delight and waited for their idol to appear. We were also waiting. And then all the chicks yelled in unison: “Tupac! Tupac!“. He appeared and waved at them like a movie star. They squealed even louder. Shakur got into the BMW in the front seat. Behind the wheel was his manager, Suge Knight. They drove off, and we moved after them, Keefe said.

“I took out a gun and handed it to Dre. He shook. “No, no,” he wailed. Then Baby Lane took the gun. “Let's slap these dudes!” said the tribe. T-Brown chose the right moment. Our cars drew level, he stretched forward a little so that Baby Lane was opposite the front of the BMW. Plemyash lowered the glass and fired several times. T-Brown rushed forward, and we disappeared., says Keefe Dee.

Orlando Anderson was among the suspects. The police knew about the fight after Tyson's fight. However, Baby Lane categorically denied any involvement in the murder of Tupac Shakur. There was no evidence against him. In the end, the police left him alone.

The American hip-hop artist lived only twenty-five years, but managed to become one of the most influential artists, having managed to sell over seventy-five million copies of his albums during his career. The cause of Tupac Shakur's death is several gunshot wounds, but why and by whose will the shots were fired, the answer to this question has not yet been found.

After the assassination attempt was made on the rapper, he was conscious for a long time and was sure that he would survive, as happened two years before this assassination attempt.

Then, in 1994, Tupac, along with his friends, at the invitation of rapper Lil "Shawn, came to a recording studio, where they were attacked by three unknown people demanding to give up valuables. Shakur, who did not obey the order to lie on the floor, was shot with a pistol, and then also beaten.

The criminals fled, removing gold jewelry from Tupac, and he managed to survive. After that incident, Shakur apparently believed in his invulnerability, but this time everything ended tragically. Of the thirteen bullets fired at Tupac, four hit the target - two bullets hit the chest, one in the arm, one in the thigh.

Already in the hospital, being connected to a device that artificially supports life, and pricked with strong painkillers, the rapper tried several times to get out of bed. Doctors introduced Shakur into an artificial coma, but all their efforts were in vain.

After Tupac Shakur died, his close friends, one of whom, the owner of the Death Row Records label, Suge Knight, could not believe it.

They were driving from a club where they came to watch the fight between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon, while a Cadillac caught up with their car, from the window of which the shots were fired. No one could guess who shot the rapper, and the answer to this question has not yet been found.

There are many assumptions and versions of who and why made an attempt on the famous rapper, but none of them has yet become the main one in the search for the causes of Tupac Shakur's death.

According to some, the rapper was the victim of the revenge of one of the gangs, with the leader of which, shortly before the incident, Shakur had a fight. It was also said that supporters of another hip-hop artist Biggie Smalls, with whom Tupac openly feuded, took revenge on him.

When Tupac died, a version arose that the criminals were aiming not at him at all, but at his companion - Suge Knight, the owner of Death Row Records, who was assassinated by his wife in order to take over the label. One way or another, the crime has not yet been solved, and by whose will Tupac Shakur died remains unknown.

Short biography of Tupac

The name given to the rapper at birth and later changed at baptism is Lesane Parish Crooks. He was born in Harlem on June 16, 1971, and his entire childhood was spent in constant moving. After completing the first stage of education, Tupac entered the art school in Baltimore, but studied there for only two years.

When he was seventeen, Shakur left school, left his family and began an independent life. Tupac Shakur's creative biography began as a member of the Digital Underground group, and he released his debut solo album in 1991.

A year later, the second disc with Shakur's compositions was released - then he already lived in Los Angeles, was associated with crime, and was repeatedly imprisoned. Two years later, Tupac organized his own group and recorded the disc of the same name - Thug Life.

During one of his regular conclusions, where Shakur got on charges of raping a young girl, the rapper released the album “I am against the whole world”, and became the first performer to record an album while in prison.

Then, while serving his sentence, Tupac married actress Keisha Morris, whom he met just a few months before prison. However, the rapper stayed in the status of a spouse for only a few months - the couple broke up, left with ex-wife on friendly terms.

Lesane Parish Crooks, known as Tupac Shakur, was born on June 16, 1971. Parents - mother Afeni Shakur, father, Billy Garland were members of the Black Panther Party (Black Panther Party for Self-Defense). The organization was created to fight for the rights of African Americans. A few weeks later, as Afeni was cleared of more numerous conspiracy charges against the United States, little Tupac was born. When the young man grew up, they decided to dedicate the boy to the affairs of the organization and Lesane made a tattoo with the symbol of the group.

Childhood, youth Shakur can not be called easy. Closely associated with the criminal world and the attempt of people to defend their rights in any way, the guy did not know that there was another life. However, the boy managed to enroll in a children's theater studio and play a role on stage at the age of 12. Incredibly, Lesane wanted to take poetry classes. Perhaps the training later helped in writing good texts.

Path to glory

Tupac made attempts to climb the Olympus of Glory in 1987. The artist managed to get what he wanted only as part of the Digital Underground team. The guys wrote and performed the soundtrack for the film "Big Trouble".

In the early 90s, the rapper forms a group of friends. Soon the comrades release 1 album, which received a gold certificate. It is noteworthy that Shakur almost did not perform with Thug Life.

In the winter of 1995, the incredibly successful song Dear Mama was released. The track was included in the album Me Against The World. The song is incredibly hooked fans. In the single, Tupac talked about difficult childhood, his and his relationship with his mother, frankly admitting that Afeni suffered from drug addiction. The album later won the Best Rap Album award and the song was certified platinum when it topped the Billboard Hot 100.

What did Tupac die from?

On September 13, 1996, Lesane Parish died in hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. Before the tragic event on September 7, the rapper, along with manager Suge Knight, went to boxing. The fight brought together two world stars: Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. The first one won. By the way, Mike was good friend rapper. The mood was good and the friends decided to go to a club owned by Knight.

In the car at the time of the murder, in addition to the manager and the performer himself, there was a bodyguard and two friends. The company decided that there was no hurry and they had enough time to ride around the city.

Having stopped at a traffic light, the young people started a conversation with the girls sitting in a nearby car. The guys did not notice how a Cadillac drove up from the side, completely blocking the movement of the celebrity car. A pistol peeped out of the window - shooting at Shakur began. Suga covered the rapper and got shot in the back of the head, but Knight managed to survive (they couldn't get the bullet out of his head).

After the incident, the perpetrators fled the scene, and the wounded was immediately taken to intensive care. As his friend, who helped haul the body to the ground out of the car, recalled, “Tupac sighed, crossing his arms. It was the last breath Shakur took on his own.”

Tupac Shakur had his lung removed in an attempt to stop internal bleeding. But the procedure did not save the situation. The rapper underwent two whole series of operations.

Personal life

Tupac is a man who incredibly strongly, selflessly loved people. The guy fought for the civil rights of blacks and became a real revolutionary. Shaq (as they affectionately called him) always had a lot of friends.

American actress Jada Pinkett Smith was friends with him high school. They were united by a love of acting, cinema, and life in dysfunctional families. One day, Tupac said about Jada that she was his heart and they would remain friends for life, even grow old together. Tupac was ready to give the last if the girl asked. And Pinkett doted on a friend, spoke about the relationship as follows: “Pac is one of my best friends, with whom a friendship has formed for centuries. What happens between us cannot be explained in words, because such people meet only once in a lifetime. He was my brother, father, showed concern, behind his back I was like behind a stone wall.

Regarding romantic relationships: it is known that the rap star was very popular with the opposite sex. For a while he was married to Kesha Maurice, but after a few years they broke up due to the fact that the artist could not give the girl the love she deserves.

He was credited with an affair even with Madonna, but everything was denied. And finally, before his death, he was close to Kidada Jones, whom he wanted to marry. A horrific attack prevented the death of Tupac Shakur.

And now, more than twenty years ago, an incredible performer left us, who made a huge contribution to the development of hip-hop. When he died, he was only 25 years old.

The walls are still painted with graffiti depicting the rap legend of the 90s. Talking about him, friends seem to relive those years, months and days when he was with them. At the Coachella festival, a hologram was once made, performing two songs in a duet with Snoop Dogg, which made the audience just freeze in place. For all his fans and just people who knew him, he will remain alive, at least in the hearts and in his songs.
