Where to go, what to see on a city day?

In the anniversary year 2017, the city authorities promise an unprecedented scale of celebrations. Folk festivals will cover not only the center of Moscow - festive events will be held in all major parks of the capital. At the bottom of the city in Moscow, everyone will spend time with pleasure.

Red Square is the main venue for celebrations. At 12:00 there will be a solemn opening ceremony of the holiday. Speeches by the Mayor of Moscow and the President of the Russian Federation are expected. The festival "Jubilee of Moscow 870" will be held from 1 to 10 September. Throughout the city, 40 thematic sites have been opened that tell about outstanding people and events related to Moscow. A year ago, exactly 322 events were organized in Moscow on the occasion of the City Day. This time the organizers decided to break the record and hold more than a hundred events dedicated to the anniversary of the capital.

When is City Day in Moscow in 2017?

A series of festive events will start on the first day of September, and at once at forty city sites. The main theme of the festival "Jubilee of Moscow 870" will be the Russian avant-garde, and the events themselves will tell about the great achievements and discoveries that belong to our beloved city and its inhabitants. There will be a lot of guests - more than ten million people are expected to visit the sites - they will get acquainted with the inventions of outstanding Moscow engineers, refresh the memory of the names of famous composers and artists, learn the fate and history of important city buildings, and also pass along the roads of significant military campaigns. The organizers will begin to create a festive mood in advance: in a few weeks, in honor of the City Day, Moscow will seriously change. On the public transport there will be colorful signs, the appearance of buildings will change, and themed board games, souvenirs and even sweets will appear on the shelves. Also in 2017, on City Day in Moscow, art objects will be installed that will tell about the achievements of cultural figures, athletes, architects and many others.

City Day on Tverskaya Street

One of the main venues for celebrating the City Day will be. On September 9 and 10, there will be spectacular performances by acrobats and wakeboarding masters, and excerpts from theatrical performances that are successfully staged in Moscow theaters will be shown here. It will be possible to jump on the Olympic trampoline and taste the dishes of the capital's cuisine from different eras.
